Leave a CommentThis guy is running pretty true to form. He called my church this morning, said his name was Jerry Wolf and that he needed a little over $250 for bus tickets for his wife and child to get home from Altamonte Springs, FL to Derby, KS. He gave a fic***ious address, was not a water company customer in Derby, but otherwise his story was the same. He had his mother's ashes in an urn, his 95 Olds threw a rod and *****ed the block and was junk, and needed money wired to him thru Walmart within the next 3 hours to get home. After I found the previous reports I didn't even bother to call him back. The Derby police told me that he probably uses a disposable cell phone to make these calls and there was really no way to even get his phone shut off!
I got a call from a person claiming to be Jerry Thomas from Minnesota with the same phone number and with the same sob story. After sear****g Google, I found that it is scam.
Recently received a call from 407-516-9669. I heard the same story about a mother ****ed by a ***** driver and needed about $250 for bus fare. The caller said his name was Jerry Thomas. He asked if I could wire money within three hours or else he and his family would miss the bus.
Called saying mom died tragic and needed $300 for bus fare. wanted it wired immediately because they might miss the bus. Did not know how to*****ounce the name of this town, and claimed to have met me a few weeks ago. Said the car was s****ped out for towing expenses and did not have a way home. I asked him about this information and he ***g up the phone.
Person called and asked for money. Claimed to be stranded in Altamonte Springs, FL with wife and child. Said they'd traveled there after his mother had been ****ed by a ***** driver and needed to get home to Cape Cod. Obvious he didn't know beans about the Cape. Did a little internet research and this is a complete fraud.
