Caller ID identified as Verizon

Took 5-7 seconds to respond to my "hello". Asked if I was responsible for paying bills. I asked if he was a computer. He said, "what?". I asked for today's date (because I wanted to know if person was real). He asked "Are you mad?" Didn't sound very professional so I knew it wasn't BGE. Plus, I don't have a BGE account (I did years ago) so I knew it was a phishing scam. I ***g up.
