STOP messages will not go through. Tried 4 times over the last hour and every time I get the same error: Message not sent Select to review message and try a***n. This usually only happens when texting a number that doesn't exist. No idea what sort of voodoo trickery the sender is using to s**** their number.

I kept trying ti reply STOP and every time got the "Network congestion" message. Then I got another text the next day from 415-373-8156 and replied STOP and that one went through.

go to http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm and file a complaint.  Get yourself on the do not call list and ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS file a complaint every time you get a call.  Calling the Walmart people won't get you off the list.  Sending "stop" won't get you off that list.  If these folks were honest businesses you wouldn't have gotten the call in the first place.  Follow up with your senator, congressman, send a copy of the complaint to them.  If we make it as much of a pain-in-the-a** for our congress as it is for us MAYBE they'll care enough to put a stop to it.

Not just on Verizon. I'm on AT&T and got one.

got a txt from 727-251-9364  saying please call 888-889-7491 we have your $200 rebate voucher thank you for visiting the website. re: stop to unsub/dnc. then 4 days later i got a txt from 415-774-6317 saying thanks 4 visiting our website please call 877-861-8581 to claim your $100 walmart gift card voucher! reply stop 2 unsub.  Glad I did a search on one of the numbers and found the information that other had left.

Adding yourself to the do not call list doesn't stop them... I'm on it already and I'm getting them too

I work for a cell phone company and understand 3rd party vendors as I see too often the $9.99 charges on customers bills.  I am well aware of not entering my phone number onto any website as they will s**** charging me the fee.  I have received the message twice so far and just had a customer contact me and say they received 3 of them today coming from 3 different phone numbers: 4157746317, 6463278731, 3479255873.

Scam text message from 415-774-6317, telling me to call 1-800-718-9610 for a 250.00 gift card

Got it too, same as the rest.  I'm going to see if adding my phone to the Do Not Call List helps.  I also agree that Verizon should be held accountable.  The message says I can text "Stop" to cancel but that just sounds like a way for them to verify the phone number is good.

I keep getting these calls from the 415-774-6317 200 voucher and Walmart.We don't even have a Walmart were I live so I don't understand how they got my number.As someone posted I called the number for another phone and it sounds like a scam.The voice on the voice mail sounded weird...  I called t-mobile and they said this is a third party.In other words we shopped somewhere with a good reputation, but for money the sold our telephone numbers to telemarketers...  That ****s... Any idea on how to stop them?  BB do not have the feature to block that one number...

I received two text messages on my Verizon Wireless phone, as the others.  July 28, 2010.The first smessage: call 800-571-4835 number to claim a walmart voucer.  The call came from 415-774-6317. The 2nd message, noted to sms 415-513-5459 to unsubscribe (sure, like I'm going to call a spammer.)I called the 800-571-4835 and they identified themselves as a Family Savings Program under walmart.  She went further to say that if I had a problem, I could call walmart at 800-440-9757First of all, I did not call them from my cell phone, instead I called from skype where no number displays.  Verizon Wireless should be held accountable for my number being made public and used by spammers.  I know that I can go in one-on-one and have this number blocked.  But why should a million people do a block, when a global block by verizon wireless makes more sense.

Same ****.  Annoyed that these people waste my time and cause me enough concern to waste even more time to find out if it's an even bigger scam.  I'm not in favor of a fee on internet traffic or a "communications tax", but maybe these commercial enterprises should have to pay for these "blind calls" and spam advertising mails at the same rate as the US Postal service charges for mail advertising.  Use the proceeds to bring the high s***d internet and wifi to more peopke, and to make it more affordable.  Don't charge any fee, as it is now, for "valid" communications..  Tird, real tired of these spam and **** messages.
