Leave a CommentI'm laughing ... I was Googling a diff phone scam. Maybe you will get a laugh out of this. I've been posting this and other info on every site I can find on these ****s. If enough of us get educated at least we can slow them down or not feel totally victimized. I just though of so****ing that might help or at least give some of you some satisfaction. In the Nov. 06 I got a new land line. I immediately registered that number with the *Do Not Call Registry*. Anyone can call you legally until 30 days goes by. I hadn't had the number 3 days and I was inundated with calls from Direct TV people from 5-6 different states. I finally got smart and talked to some kid and said, "YEA! I'm really interested but I needed to talk to my "significant other" (like I have one) as I can't make that decision myself but we have been discussing getting it. Do you have a number where I can reach you? I've been in sales before and I know how it works. This way you get the credit for the sale!" Greedy little ******* bit like a ***gry wolf. I called him right back to make sure the number was legitimate and then spoke to his Supervisor, I was to be taken OFF "any Direct TV call lists across the NATION ... NO EXCUSES!". I also called the young buck back and told him if he ever rang my number a***n he'd be strung up by his *****.Then I contacted AT&T since my number was just issued I wanted to know how long it was since it had last been used. It was only 6 weeks since it had been disconnected from the last recipient. I then proceeded to let AT&T know, "for EVERY SPAM call I receive, since you either *****ed up by issuing a number that hasn't been "dead" long enough OR you are selling my number, I am going to call your 800 number and use up your precious time *****ing to customer support. Also you people do this s**t thinking then I'll be forced to purchase your extra features such as, Call Waiting ID & Privacy Manager® so I don't have to deal with this....think a***n" I never received another spam call to that number. I've dealt online with Nigerian scammers and found there is an official term called "Scam Baiting". If you have some time and a few fake email addresses you keep the crooks busy and they have less time to steal from others. It really ****es them off and gives me ultimate pleasure when I ****er one up enough to get the info I need to shut down their operation for a little while anyway.I love being a nice honest person, but I absolutely HATE these types of people and tactics. One of my sisters once told me I should s**** a business called. "Let Me Be Your B***h". I would have but couldn't figure out how to charge people to take on (just one example) cell phone companies that routinely overcharge. Who has half an hour + to call and complain each month for being overcharged on average .58 cents to $2.37? Mine was doing exactly that until I called their 800 number 3 months in a row, put them on speaker phone and told them, "I'm going to play on my PC while you fix the problem. Let me know when it's fixed and give me a confirmation number."How does one charge for that?Wish you all the best.
This was the 5th call today and I knew they were scammers, so I tried to see what they would be after. Here's the way the call went. By the way, all the info i gave was fake:C: callerL: me[Call-center like noise; a slight ‘beeping’ like it’s officially recording]C: may I speak to [they asked for my daughter]?L: speakingC: this is lori from american express and I’m calling about your blue card. we received your payment today of $200 but we’re still showing that’s not enough to bring it up to date. You owe $513.L: oh, ok. C: here, let me pull up your account. What’s your mother’s birthday?L: 9/4C: and your work phone number?L: 888 382 1222 (it’s the number for the Federal Trade Commission)C: and the year you were bornL: 1962C: Oh, your security questions did not go through. Is all that information correct?L: Yes, although I c****e jobs a lot so maybe that’s why the phone number’s not correctC: And the year of birth is correct? (I’m not making this up…)L: Yes, that’s rightC: Okay, let me just get you over to someone who can bring up your account and take your payment [On hold for a while. Muzak in the background]C: Hi, this is Phyllis. I need to verify who I’m speaking withL: okC: May I have the last 4 digits of your social security number?L: NoC: I need to verify who I’m speaking withL: But the other woman said you were just going to take a payment and you called me. So why do you need my social?C: Well, let me just verify your home address thenL: You should have that, tooC: Ok, well if you need your password reset I can’t do that unless you verify your iden***yL: Oh, ok. I was told you were taking a payment. But you can reset my password for me?C: Yes.L: Ok, then I’ll go pay onlineC: Well, I need your VERBAL password. I don’t have anything to do with your online password.L: Oh, ok. C: So what’s the last 4 of your social?L: Let’s just reset my password then.C: You should just mail in your payment (hurriedly trying to get off the phone by now)L: But I don’t want to. I want to do it online. Can you reset my password?C: No, your account is fine if you made a payment today…L: But the other lady said it wasn’t ok. Can’t you reset my password?C: You should just mail it in. [****s up on me]
They say they're AmEx, but they aren't. They're scam artists looking for you to give up an account number. Don't even answer the phone. If you have a great VoIP service like I do, just add them to your blacklisted numbers.
I'm receiving these phone calls beginning before 8 & continuing after dark every 2 hours. Initially it's an automated voice message from American Express, but then it's silent.
