Leave a CommentThe call came in to my cell phone. Guy had the last 4 of my credit card, said I was going to get $100-$150 in gas vouchers. Then he wanted me to confirm the city I live in. I told him he wasn't getting any info from me and ***g up.
The company was Vista Services. (517) 933-2016. These people called my office phone and gave me the whole sales pitch, which was exactly identical to what "Jean" mentioned. Basically, they are a telemarketing company that is hired to sell a product or benefit for whatever company hired them. What happens is an "auto dialer" (Big Computer that stores phone numbers and names in the back room) that everyone (the telemarketers) is connected to will display the name of the person to your computer screen and sound a beep/alarm to notify you that you are calling them. When the call is done, they have to select an option for how they call went, IE: Not Avail, No Answer, Not interested, Deceased, Callback, etc... Unfortunately most of the options will recycle your number into the calling qeue and result in you getting calls repeatedly from the company, just not from the same individual. To clear your name from the qeue, tell them the person they are trying to reach is deceased. (I was a telemarketer in college for a side job, which is how I know this)Basically, they aren't necessarily trying to scam you- even though this deal is pretty much a scam in itself... They are trying to sell you so****ing from a company that hired them to sell it. What you have is some person sitting behind a 3-foot wide cubicle making $8 an hour calling people over and over all day...How do I know this? Well- for s****ers I did it once for a few months. Secondly, when you work for a ***nch of the military people don't really know much about and they are calling your office phone repeatedly, it can be a lot of fun talking to the poor people. I'm surprised they called my office, must have the number under "home phone" somehow...ANYWAYS, Bottom Line: Don't stress out about it, just ignore them. Eventually they'll stop calling you.
They have called numerous times, sometimes more than once a day. I have never answered the phone since I usually don't hear the phone ringing. All but the last call, today, 12/28/2009, there was no message. Today, a male said my name, Sidney, twice.
I had the EXACT same thing happen as the caller Jean from Michigan. Only they called me on my work number and had the last four digits of my credit card. I got all the way through to the customer processor who did give me an 800 number for canceling. When he asked me to put my zip code in on the phone to verify everything I told him "NO" that I did not want my credit card hit for any amount of money. He then became angry and told me that he didn't know what was wrong with me and wouldn't send me anything now and I ***g up on him. I did notice that I had two missed calls from the same number the evening before.
My caller ID said it was from Michigan. First a guy said s****ed talking, he had the last 4 digits of my "visa" card - which was my debit card to my bank!! Then he said they were sending me $120.00 in gas credits FREE (yea right) just for trying out their program. When i questioned him he said the processing fee was ONLY $2.95 which would be charged to my card and then the program was $29.95 a month thereafter, but i would have 30 days to call and cancel the program if i did not like it. He promised there were all sorts of discounts to stores, restaraunts, etc. I asked for the toll free number to cancel, and he said they would give it to me after I spoke with the processing agent, (ha ha) like they would really give it to me! Then this young girl comes on the phone and says they are going to record this and verify my address, etc. I said NO I DO NOT WANT IT BECAUSE I AM SURE THIS IS A SCAM!! Of course she disagreed with me but she ***g up.
Called me last night and this morning. No message, I called back and it said the same thing a recording about order conformation. NO company and I am not expecting anything.
Called today, called tonight. i answered; no one was on the other line, just breathing. I called them back and it was a recording about an order confirmation but no company name.
I got this call 3 times today. When I answered there was no answer. I have learned my lesson and the first place I go now, is this website.
The past 3 days I've received numerous calls from 3 different numbers in MI. On 11/17, 616-980-7365 called me twice; I didn't answer and they left no messages. On 11/18, 231-732-2737 called me FIVE TIMES. I tried to answer the last time, but missed it so I called back. I got a recording about "order confirmation." On 11/19, 517-933-2016 called me three times. I answered the 3rd call and spoke with someone who identified himself as "Tim" with "Card Member Services." He referred to me by name and said it was regarding Mastercard ending with **** (he gave me the last 4 digits of my card). He said they were going to send me $120 in gas certificates in a red & white envelope to my address. As he was stating my address, I interrupted him and told him to remove my information from their database. It's only been 30 minutes so we'll see if I get more calls. I'm planning to report this to my bank and possibly the police as well.
Got several calls from this number stating they were "Cash Reward" company and had my Credit Card number. They knew my name and the last four digit of my credit card phone number. They said they were going to send me some kind of reward. I was a bit confused, and asked them what company they are, and then they ***g up. This has been reported to my bank. When calling the number back, there is a recording for "order verification".
A SCAM!!! Do not give these people any information. They'll know your name and the last four of your credit card number. They give you some spiel about rebates or coupons or so****ing.
very strange. i certainly will not pick up a***n after reading these posts...sounds like they are trying to get an address so they can steal id's...we need to get some legislation into the FCC to block certain numbers from calling. I learned from Verizon wireless that there is no way to block numbers. That is ****. They enjoy the bennies from spam calls, as do the rest of the wireless providers...
I have received several calls from this number and when I answered this call last evening, they told me they were calling about one of my credit cards and told me the number on the credit card. They said that I was a preferred customer and that they were sending me $100 worth of coupons and they wanted me to pay $1.95 for the postage. I asked if they were from the credit card company and they said no.
i just got a call from 517-933-2016 on my cell and they said i was a preferred customer and they would send me a brochure and if i would just send them $1.95 for handleing it would be on it's way with a $100.00 coupon i could use anywhere i like....bull
why do they keep calling? I dont answer and they never leave a message, who are they?
Called tonight. Did not leave msg.!
i have been getting calls from this number for a couple of weeks now but i never answer it and I'm not going to s**** now! I wish these people would just give it up!
This number has called me everyday day this week on my cell phone. Is there any way to block a number? Anyone know?

Called 5 November 2009, no message left
SCAM!
Rec'd call from this number stating they were "Cash Reward" company and had my Credit Card number. They were going to send me $100 and a brochure. It would only cost me $1.29 for shipping and handling. They wouldn't tell me where they got it, just that I was a "preferred customer". I told them to tear it up and don't send me anything. This has been reported to my bank. When calling the number back, there is a recording for "order verification".
I called back this number and got a message stating my order is ready to ship. You can leave a message for someone to call you back at a more convenient time but it never says who the company is.
I got this call 3 times today, they left no message. I called back and got a message stating my order is ready to ship and they don't need a response from me to have it shipped. I have not ordered anything.
the number calling me several times a day is 517-933-3333. sometimes i answer and there is someone on the other end, they ask to speak to me and then the line goes dead. Other times they just call and it goes to voice mail but the line is dead? weird huh
I have gotten these calls over and over - when I pick up it it goes into a warranty for autos. I wish they would stop calling. I get these almost every other day.
our switchboard operator recieved this call several times during the day. It's a recorded message about auto warranties. They are ANNOYING and I wish there was some way to return it to them!
Called today, I didn't answer and they didn't leave a msg.
September 12, 2007, 1:19 pm EDT, the answering ma****e took the message which had begun apparently before the ma****e clicked off. Same woman's recorded voice as other calls which end in so****ing like, "or press 3 now to be removed."S. Mortans 517-933-2016 on caller ID.
