when I put my number on Do not call list, it calls me with a different number.

Hey guys, got a call from this number today as well (8/22/08) This is one of those "services" that troll ads that list things for sale ie:Autotrader, etc. I have a car placed in Autotrader so I know this is where they got my number from. My number is new and ***ody has it and I have only placed one ad over the last two weeks with it. There are many companies doing this, I don't know if they are real or a scam (any of them) I do know I don't like companies calling me to sell me so****ing or help sell so****ing for me. When I need help I will call them. Lastly, to answer the question how do you call back and get a disconnected answer but they called you from the same number? Two reasons. One, the disconnected info you here is fake, I know this for a fact because I have that set up on my other line to wart off these type of calls. Only friends and family get through to us, all others here the disconnected info. After my ad for my car is over I will do the same on that line. Two, there is a way now to program a caller id function to say WHAT YOU WANT it to say when you call from a line attached to it. So a fake number, old number or any number you type in is displayed. This is how it can also say a number that is disconnected because it is not the real number. It's an aftermarket device that does this and not so****ing you get from the phone company. Cheers

i've been getting calls from the 540.527.9021, i have a truck listed for sale on craigslist, buy and sell and kijiji... i dont understand why you cant call back?? what is the purpose of all these calls

same thing here. same hour, every day, no one there, we too have a car listed on Craigslist.

Good thing I googled this number - this person has tried to call me a couple times since I listed my car on Craigslist several weeks ago.Fortunately, I listed my GrandCentral number instead of my real number, so I'll be sumbitting this to GC's spam list.

I got the call as well between 9 and 10 a.m.  We just ran an add for selling a camper.  Must have so****ing to do with newspaper adds apparently.

yup. same story. I recently placed an ad to sell a pickup on z-idaho.com I tried to call 540-527-9021 and got the three tone--this number is no longer in service message. VERY annoying! I bought the intellus****isted search. If I get any info in the next few days, I'll share it.

I began getting calls from 5405279021 after I posted an add for my car on Craigslist.

Received call from a disconnected 540-527-9021 number that appeared to be from Roanoke, VA.  This came just a day after placing and ad to sell my car in Autotrader which seems to be a common scenario for others as well. I'm not sure how they do the ID s**** but I'm going to try and track down the real number.

I live in Medicine Hat Alberta Ca***a. I have a vehicle advertised in the Alberta Car Trader. I received a call fom a male called Allan stating he may have a buyer for the van He gave a 1-800 -821-7025 number to call back.Interesting scam. Wonder how he plans to get my van to ******ia which I understand is on the east coast of the United States

I  recieved 5 call from March 13 to Mach 23 from this number I had this number listed becasue I too was trying to sell a car.

I am getting these calls as well.  Same time between 9 and 10 am.  Caller ID says Roanoke.  I called the number back as well and I get that the number is no longer in service or has been disconnected.  So answer this, how can a number be calling me if the number has been disconnected??Oh!  My number is also unlisted and I have the number listed on Craigs list because I'm trying to sale  a car.

Same story here. I get these calls recently (Mar. 2008) between 9 and 10 AM. No one is there and I am also on the Do Not Call list. Any answers yet as to who this is?

I recently placed an add to sell my boat.  I suspect this number is calling about using them to sell it on my behalf.  No message was left.

I just called the FCC and lodged a complaint a***nst this phone number, as I am on the Do Not Call Registry and have been since Oct. 2004. I also lodged 3 complaints, one for each call, a***nst the other # 540-527-9023, too. I suggest everyone do the same, if you are also on the Do Not Call Registry. If you aren't you should get on it!! FCC's phone number is: 1-888-382-1222.

Every morning for the last 4 or so days,I have gotten calls from this number and also (540)527-9023, waking me up. Then there is no one there when I pick up. I, have an ad placed to sell a car in a local newspaper. When I put in the other phone number, I noticed about everyone who was complaining had also placed ads to sell cars, too.

I get calls from this number every morning between 9 and 10 a.m. When I answer it ***ody is there.
