Last week I got a call at home asking for my 16-digit debit card number, not thinking I entered it and then entered the 4-digit pin as asked to activate my new card from a local university that I was registering to attend. Thinking this was legit because I just got the card in the mail I gave all the requested info. After ****ing up it several things occurred to me: 1. NEVER EVER give your PIN # to anyone espcially if you did not make the call to them, 2. NEVER EVER do business with an automated system..I never got to speak to a "LIVE" person 3. After ****ing up I realized I was being SCAMMED. I immediately called the Customer Service number on the card and explained what happended. There was nothing they could do other then cancel that card at a cost of $20. to me and issue me a new card. END OF STORY...No, today (8/9/2010) I get a calld on my cell phone (before it was on my home land-line phone), and this time when they asked for my card number I immediately looked for the number that was calling me, before I didn't get the number. I knew it was a scam because I hadn't recieved my replacement card or so I thought! I tried entering a fake number several times but the automated caller would not accept it. By this time I'm on another phone calling this number. I only get an automated service NEVER A LIVE PERSON and then they disconnect my call. When I took my lunch break I went home and sure enough in the mail was my NEW debit card. Man those scammers are faster then the US postal service. But they did n't get me...and I pray they don't get you. Be sure NEVER GIVE YOUR P.I.N. NUMBER TO ANYONE. It's just like putting your cash in a strangers hand never to get it back!
It's from a company that sells software (S****er Pro) that culls numbers from Web sites so that they can be called.
