Leave a CommentJust received a call from 610-404-3141 and when I pressed 9, a live person answered the phone. When I asked for the name of her company and her employee ID number, she ***g up. Found this site and have since called FTC and filed another complaint.
Asking to reduce my interest rate on card
*****THIS IS SIMILAR TO A POST I MADE ON ANOTHER BOARD. IF YOU'VE READ IT ALREADY, ACCEPT MY APOLOGIES. MY INTENT IS NOT TO "DUPLICATE POST," ONLY TO GET THE WORD OUT TO AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE.*****I had been receiving DOZENS of "Unknown Name Unknown Number" "robocalls" playing a recorded message, and then asking me to press a number on the keypad to speak to a live operator. When I did, as soon as they heard my voice, they ***g up. I don't know, but my su****ion is that they are targeting the elderly, and since I am not and do not sound elderly, they **** up. This routine has occurred dozens of times. (Next time I press "9" or whatever, I am going to do an impersonation of a toothless elderly man and string them along: "Does your company sell stock? What's the name of your company, so I can check the Wall Street Journal? Do you know how to work a TV remote?")(I asked my phone company to enable to feature that does not accept unidentified calls. So they have no choice but to call me from a number which will appear on caller ID.)My ***her died last year at age 89, and his name is still on a lot of records, so they don't know he's dead. The elderly are more trusting, are less in-touch with modern life and are unaware of elaborate or technical schemes.Plus, if they are a lonely "shut-in," they like to hear a friendly voice on the other end of the line and strike up a conversation with that "cheerful" person. Then when that person they've established such a good rapport with asks them to buy so****ing or give them their credit card number and/or SSN, the elderly person can't find it in their heart to say no. SHAMEFUL!Today I received a call from (610) 404-3141. I pressed 9 to speak to a live operator to tell them that we are on the Do Not Call Federal Registry List and that I only possess an American Express card which bears no interest. But as soon as he heard my voice and (I surmise) determined that I was not 89, he said, "oh," and ***g up. The number was on my caller ID, so I called back. I got a recorded message saying this number is disconnected or not in service. So I trolled the Internet using reverse phone lookup. The only info I got was that it was a land line and the number was unpublished (even though the number was prominently displayed on the web page!).Further Internet investigation found that the carrier for that phone number was "CONESTOGA TEL & TEL CO" in Berks, PA. When I clicked on "Name and Location" for that phone number I was taken to a site that said, "CONESTOGA TEL & TEL" has been bought by ' D and E Telephone Co.' "I called the "D and E Telephone Co." and got the voice mail of an individual dude! -- probably in a ratty apartment! I declined to leave a message. When I explored even further, it said that "D and E Telephone Co has been bought by Windstream Corp."Windstream Corp's address and phone number is 4001 Rodney Parham Rd., Little Rock, AR 72212-2442, Phone: (501) 748-7000.I called them but got a recording saying I was calling after business hours, but you can be sure I'll be calling them tomorrow! In fact, it might be NEAT if everyone who reads this post calls them as well! : )Make sure to mention the (610) 404-3141 phone number -- first belonging to "CONESTOGA TEL & TEL CO" in Berks, PA, then bought by "D an E Telephone" of Ephrata, PA 17522-0458, which in turn was bought by Windstream Corp. of 4001 Rodney Parham Rd., Little Rock, AR 72212-2442, Phone: (501) 748-7000.Let's all hammer them with inquiries! But don't be verbally abusive, use bad language or be THREATENING (that's a***nst the law). Pressure them, but use your head, and don't violate laws covering abuse by telephone. But if they **** up on me, it is not abusive on my part if I call them back a***n, and a***n...I doubt they'll call the police on me because that would **** up their own spot and they'd be discovered. If the people at "Windstream" are accommodating, ask them for the company name using the phone number (610) 404-3141. If they refuse, say, Well they know my number; they called me, and I think I have a right to know who they are. I have your address, do I need to involve law enforcement? Before that, I plan to act innocent, and say that this number keeps coming up on my caller ID countless times, and I always miss them. "When I call them it's always after business hours. So I am taking time out of my lunch break to see if you can put me in touch with these people who obviously want to reach me." (Feign innocence, and if they are uncooperative, THEN get****ertive (carefully! and legally!))I also filed a formal complaint with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) at (877) 438-4338. Make sure you get to a live person. They entered my complaint and asked for any details I could provide. I was given a case number in the event I wanted to follow up on the status.I suggest EVERYONE call this number and do the same. Not for our sakes -- we're too savvy to ever be taken by these blindingly obvious telephone scams that prey on people less fortunate then we.Do it for others who may not be as aware as we. And do it for the elderly shut-ins who agree to do whatever the caller asks simply because they're so lonely and so happy to hear a friendly voice on the other end of the line.My friend's 91-year-old grand***her was a lonely "shut-in," and these sweet-talking young girls used to engage him in meaningful, "sincere" conversation for up to 15 minutes, and then ask him to extend his magazine subscription for 3 years. After this happened countess times, he had a 30-year subscription to a major news magazine -- far longer than his life expectancy! He just couldn't bring himself to say no to someone who was so nice and who "appeared" to take a genuine interest in him.Targeting the most vulnerable in our society and stealing what little money they may have is insidious! How these people sleep at night I'll never know. They should be behind bars long enough to think about what they've done.
On the don't not call list... these people call like every 6 months about nothing wrong with your credit card just want to offer lower rate... this is your final time and this time when my husband pressed 9 she stated the bank had sent her information on my credit card was over $5000.00 and would offer a lower rate.. but could not give any information, I DO NOT HAVE A CREDIT CARD! When I tried to call the number back like in 20 minutes number had been c****ed I called that number lady said no one from here has called you and ***g up on me... I looked this number up and it was a residental line. I'm sickof this.
You can't keep them on the phone very long because they will **** up on you every time you press 9. Wish we COULD cost them money or stop them. My sister lives in PA and I usually answer it even tho I know it's not her phone no. You never know when there is an emergency. They have called this number enough times that I'm trying to remember it.
THIS ANNOYING TEL. NO. KEEPS CALLING THIS NURSING HOME. PLEASE REPORT.
I have call forwarding service and always send such calls back to themselves or another worthless ins***ution of US BANK credit card services which does the same thing
PLEASE EVERYONE!!! Press 9 and talk to a real person. Keep them on the line as long as possible. These ****s have to pay people to talk to you and the more it costs them the sooner they will stop calling people. Besides, they might figure out after the 10th or 20th call that you are just wasting their time and they might not call you a***n. Just don't be surprised if they aren't that smart.
said to press 9 to lower card rate, to 6.9%will i push 9 to here what they had to say and thephone went dead... did i just get scamed by pushing 9?hummmm... hope not.
Received automated call from 610-404-3141 on Monday, January 4, 2010 at 11:30 am Mountain Time. Call said to press nine to lower the interest rates on my credit accounts. I pressed nine and the marketer who answered asked if I pressed nine to lower my interest rates. I said, "I'd like you to take this number off of your list" and continued to state that the nuber had belonged to someone else prior to September 2009 and I'm getting calls for someone named Viola or Violet, but this is not her number anymore, but the person ***g up right after I said I wanted them to take my number off their list. She didn't apologize or anything, no comment at all, just 'click'.
The FTC has passed new rules about, "RoboCalls", as of August 2009 it is ILLEGAL for ANY business to contact anyone with a "RoboCall" without written permission. Go to the, Do Not Call Registry website - https://complaints.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx?panel=2 Lodge your complaint there. Probably the only step beyond that that you can take is to block the number.I do not have caller ID and had to pay a fee to trace that number back. I hate this stuff!! Scammers and rip-off schmucks, GRRRRRR!!
I've been woken up two mornings in a row by an automated message offering to "help lower my interest rate". The second time I answered and feigned interest int heir services in hopes of figuring out what comany this is, but the lady ***g up on me.

Told me they could reduce my interest rates on my credit cards to about 6.9% asked a few more questions then ask me for the 3 digit code on the back of the card. I laughed an told them they were nuts if they thought I would give them them that info then they ***g up. Also on the DNC list and will follow thru with a complaint. Tried to call the number back and it would not connect.
Told that I could reduce my interest rate and pressed 9. I asked the woman which card she was talking about and was told all. Told her I was Do not call and remove me from list. She laughed and told me that I would have to remove my on name from my on list. I asked for company info and she would not tell me. When told that I would report them she said go ahead you don't even know who we are. Have just filed complaint with FCC and Do Not Call registry. I encourage everyone else to do same before they scam people out of money. Very rude people and don't care about Do not Call.
Let's get proactive and go after them. Anyone live in the Birdsboro, PA neighborhood? We'll track them down and put a stop to these illegal calls. So far the government will not do it.
I keep recving these calls and dont know who our why we need to do so****ing to stop this before they get some senoir citizens to do this!!!!
same thing here...i didn't answer but the message was about lowering my interest rate and limited eligibility and to press 9 to talk to a real person.....to everyone reading this, DON'T EVER GIVE YOUR CREDIT CARD NUMBERS OUT TO AN UNSOLICITED CALLER....PERIOD!!!!!!!!!!
Stacy calling from 610-404-3141 said she was from Card Services and wanted to help me reduce the rate on my credit cards to 6%. When she asked me to read her my card number I knew immediately it was a hoax or not a legitimate call from my bank. Then she said that on Feb 15th all credit card interest rates are going up to 30% and I told her she was nuts. When she told me to watch the news because it's true I laughed and told her 90% of what is reported isn't factual on the TV news. I told her she should not be calling people and telling them this sort of thing because it isn't true. If it were, then we'd have a civil war a**** customers and banks. Then she ***g up on me.
same old line; called them and asked to be removed from their 'list' and still I get calls. Called and left message about being on Do Not Call list and reported them and still get calls. Why don't we all get together and SUE them?
"...Straight to as little as 6.9%. Your eligibility expires shortly so please consider this your final notice please press 9 on your phone now to speak with a live operator and lower your interest rates. Thank you."
When I called back it said "this call may contain strong adault contact if this is not what your looking for" then I ***g up
just received a call from "card services" about lowering my interest rate on my cards. 1. I don't have any cards 2. caller refused to identify herself 3. caller refused to let my talk to her superior.googled 'card services" to find it is JP Morgan Chase. will file a complaint with my states AG.
This is one of the s****ed numbers from one of the biggest scam companies out there. Do not answer.
I'm on the do not call list and have absolutely no relationship with these people
This is a phishing scam to get yo to divulge your credit card numbers. If you are on the FCC do-not-call list, go to their website and submit a complaint http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htmToday's call is the 3rd of 3 instances when a woman's recorded voice insisted I press 9 to be connected to a live operator to lower the rate for my credit cards to 6.99%. No name of bank or card to which they might be referring. She said my eligibility is limited, so consider this my final warning. Same recording from other numbers.
I got the call last night after 9PM and it was listed as Out Of Area. It was the recording from Card Services and I pressed "9" to speak to someone to get more information. I told her that I was on the Do Not Call List and she gave me the response "Congratulations, You Want A Cookie?" and then ***g up on me. I called the number back and got a recording for Hypnotic Chat. I called this morning and made my number private and a there was a recording about not blocking my number and some other reason about being blocked and gave a 773-572-3100 to cll to request access the system. They were trying to "Keep the bad ones Out."
Same MO: Calls, claims to be from 'Card Services'. Wants my account info. Sounds Phisy to me, if you know what I mean. The guy ***g up on me when I pressed him for info about his company. I called the number and a recording says it's a chat line.
Birdsboro, PA. Harrasing call, representing "card services", lower my interest rate. Tell them nothing except strong expletives. I'm on the "do not call registry" and that is apparently defunct.
want to lower your interest rate? press 9pressed 9, someone answered and s****ed asking questions about my credit card accounts. i asked them what company she was with and she said "i represent card services." and without a breat asked the question a***n. i said "card services doesnt tell me what company your with" and i was ***g up on before i could finish that sentence.DONT GIVE OUT ANY INFORMATION TO THEM AT ALL!
