Leave a CommentThe phone call I got from them said 'unknown caller'. The man on the other end, very broken english, said he was with the Global Technical Department of Computers, and that my computer was sending out viruses to many people in my area, would I log on and he would tell me what to do next. I asked if there was a number I could get back to him at, he gave me 626-239-3135. I told him I don't recognise the area code, where is this number? He said the ****** Islands. I asked him how he got my number and he said Ma'am, we're a global network. I said okay, but HOW did YOU get THIS number? and -click- he was gone. They should maybe try using a name that doesn't sound like it was made up by a fifth grader.
Someone named Jonathan tried to tell me he received a message that there was corruption in my computer and wanted to walk me through the way to fix it. He told to me to go to the "run" and type in eventvwr. I wrote the numbers down but did not type them in. Figured it was a hacker. A friend looked up this number and saw a previous report.
we had this person call us today! he called and told us things like everyone else said here. he said my mom computer was having problems like everyone else in this area. (which is north plains, oregon) he said that our server was having problems with worms or so****ing, even though my moms computer isn't on the internet or anything right now! he said that he got our phone number from when we bought our computer, which was over 6 years ago.. fake! i don't know who this ****** is, but this is def. a scam. we did not do as he asked, but ripped him a new one, then told him we would have an attorney call him! watch out!
I received a call this afternoon from this number 626-239-3135. The person speaking used broken english and I could hardly understand him. I think he said his name was Makai Johnson. He said my computer's isp address was blinking red and was sending viruses to his server. He said a lot of computers in my area were crashing because of this. He wanted me to open the run box on my computer and type in eventvwr and left click on okay. I wrote it down but would not type it in. He said I needed to so he could talk me through how to fix it. I told him I would have to call someone and verify that he was legit. I asked him why Microsoft or my anti-virus text support was not calling me instead of him. He said they were the IT department and did service for them. He said they were from Log in for S***d and my computer would run faster after he helped me fix it. He continued to try to get me to type eventvwr in but a***n I told him I would have to call someone to check this out. He got angry and said then just let your computer crash like the others in your area - and then he ***g up. I immediately typed in Login for S***d and found all these comments. Thank goodness I did not fall for this scam.
Should have added the words scam, fraud, theft, and phishing in my report above regarding the number 626-239-3135, in case anybody's sear****g that way.
This is the number given to call the company. It may not be the number that was actually calling me, and many not be the name of the actual company who owns the line. Others have reported that the company is a fraud. This time they made no attempt to link themselves with Microsoft, which others have reported. They could not tell me how they would know that my computer was severely corrupted. They called on a line that is on the Do Not Call list.
