You should contact YOUR state's Better Business Bureau and that company's state's Better Business Bureau that they are using to do their collections from and let them deal with the harassment...You should DO***ENT everything since they still can report you to the BIG 3 credit bureau's (Trans Union, Experian, and Equifax)...It appears this company is beyond caring about the Fair Credit Reporting Act, so the next step is to  PROTECT YOURSELF...I would suggest purchasing a monthly credit monitoring service since they tell you of all inquiries and c****es on a daily basis for a low monthly fee...Think about it '****ye' it only matters if it gets BACK to YOUR credit anyway...The FTC (Federal Trade Commission) is another avenue to take, OR at best do***ent that you contacted them in the event YOUR employer has warned you of debt in collection under your iden***y...A wise man once told to me to **** in one hand and wish into the other and see which hand filled up first...Do not just hope this goes away...Do not get angry, be savvy...Snail mail is the BEST way to file all do***entation in this day and age, easy to Notarize, sign and send to interested parties.

These people have been after me for years trying to collect debt on a card I never had that is also over the SOL. I just got a call from them stating they were about to take me to court for $20,000, but would settle for $4500. The first guy I spoke with gave me all my past residences, from looking up my SSN. He transferred me to his "legal" guy who was absolutely abusive with me telling me things like, to look for a new profession if you don't pay the debt & this will hurt you for the rest of your life if you don't pay. I told him that I've been in the military for 13+ years, stationed all around the country, and asked him for paperwork on the accrued debt. He told me he doesn't have to supply me with any information, and if I didn't pay the $4500, I would be prosicuited in court and would be discharged from the military for financial reasons. He actually told ME, I was wasting his time, and he had another call he had to take, and ***g up on ME.I got off the phone all spun up, but googled the number that called, and it got me here. After reading everyone else's comments, I feel a lot better. This is the first time they have gotten arggesive with me in all the times in the past they called.Thanks everyone.

They called me. They had a lot of information on me:  SSN, addresses, Mother's Name (not Maiden Name), and said I had a debt from 1993 to Montgomery Wards CC.  I never had such a card.  They had other addresses for me that were not right.  So, I guess they were phishing for correct information.  They said they would sue for $14,000 or settle "right now" for $4,000.  I just ***g up.  Now I have LifeLock.  Boy, did this worry me.

Buy a phone with call block like i did. Mine is a panasonic, great phone. $80 on amazon.com. The collection agencys hate it. Im lol.

They are ARA an "acquisitions company" otherwise a JUNK DEBT BUYER who are trying to intimidate, and scare people into saying they own debt.  Ask them up front if the call is being recorded, if they say yes, then you say "good because I'm recording you too", if they say "no" then request that it be recorded on their side and that you will be recording all communications from them on your side.  Otherwise they will threaten to take you to court and sue you for a debt that is past it's statue of limitations (SOL) (even though they can take you to court you have a defense a***nst these people by using the SOL)  dont admit to anything, ask for your dunning letters, and tell them you want validation that the alleged debt is yours, get everything they say in a recording.  They will threaten to report you to the IRS, and all of the credit reporting agencies and they are very aggressive people, who ignore tons of the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act (FDCPA) laws.  If they try to take you to court counter sue for the laws that they break by intimidating, harrassing, and threatening you under the FDCPA laws.

I got a call from this number today at my work number and they asked for me by my maiden name and the guy sounded really odd, I did not provide any information,  I have been using my married name for 20 years, who are these people?  the caller ID said Private

This # called me this morning 5 times back to back. The # they are calling me on is my cell and this cell is strictly business related.  I was in a meeting and they just kept calling back to back and finally left a message giving me an 888 # to call. Stated a legal do***entation was being forwarded to his office from a particular county-----a county which I do not live in nor have I ever lived in!!!  Must be a collection company so I will not answer!
