I got the same call, twice now... SCAM!!

This person by the name of Eric Brown who had a very strong accent like he was from India. He left me a message stating that it was a "serious matter and that it was a time concious situation". He said that I needed to call some attorneys office and that if I did not call him back that all he could do was wish me luck. Needless to say, I called him back and I told him that his name was not Eric Brown and that I do not owe that company money and that he needed to go back to India or Egypt or wherever he was from. I told him not to call my number anymore or else they were going to have a problem with me.

I got a call he said he was at the courthouse and sent me a letter via email that states THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE has a case number and said it was for some payday loan I never paid. He said his name is Gary Smith and was a foreigner as well. Said I could owe $9481.86 once te case gets downloaded in the court. Also the individual stated that he could not provide me the name of the loan company because there is over 127 loan companies. I plan on contacting the FBI regarding this issue, first because they are cutting and pasting information from the Department of Justice. I did a search on the address via google and it does not even exist. These guys freaked me out as well and said they would contact my employer, and said the police would be coming to my office to pick me up.

My heart nearly stopped when I played back my cell phone voicemail messages and heard that I was the subject of "a serious lawsuit" and that my SS# is on hold by the U.S. Government . A man with a very strong accent stated that his name is Officer Jeff Ford and stated that my residential address is currently under investigation. I think I believed him at first because he said my name. I called my mother who is the smartest person I know and she called the man back. He thought she was me and stated I owed for a loan that was never payed back. He refused to give the name of the company that this loan was from and stated we may need to get a lawyer to settle this issue. He then asked us to call (646-470-1673). I then typed this number into google and realized that this was indeed a scam.

Same thing just happened to me.

They threatened to put me in jail if I didn't pay a past due payday loan. But im working with the payday loan people so I don't know who this person is trying to get my debit card number.

I just got the same call. Sounds like the same individual. I had to listen to the message he left 4-5 time just to make that much out.

i got 3 call in row 2 messages saying same thing this was an officer from investigation deptment the govermnent has my name address and social security number on hold pending a serious investigation. he had a foriegn accent and called from a diff state.

Got a call from this number saying basically the same things as everyone else has listed and got mad when I asked for do***entation for what I was paying for. Even offered to split the amount into two payments. Never gave me the company name.

This foreigner called me telling me my ssn has been on hold. I have his number payback is a mother.

I very irate gentleman stating that a claim was being filed a***nst me and my S.S. # was frozen????? He demanded my address and email address. He phoned my cell at least 5 times and left 2 messages. He had my old address & email address. I'm a college student not even 21 and located in the plain states, so a call from a N.Y. City # and when try to phone the number it rings three or four times then just cuts off. My debit acct was hacked last year and the email & addr that this caller mentioned was****ociated with that (now closed) acct. This caller was very heavily accented and belligerent!
