I have been called by 713-400-5750 multiple times. Every time they leave you a message to call back; the caller (seems to be "St. Luke') never wants you on the line - they straight go to your voicemail for YOU to call back. I called them back today and insisted that their calls (or rather voicemails) need to stop (I am on a no-call number). The lady on the other end told me she need my phone number (really)to look that up and told me that these are automated phone calls. Too much! Who do you need to contact to have these "automated" phone calls stop bothering you. My advise to all: do NOT give out your phone number, even they needed your number at a visit at a hospital. Sad!
This is apparently a legit call. Billing supervisor at St. Lukes said they use an outside firm to collect because "we don't have time to handle that workload". What she could NOT confirm is that a bill for the amount due was ever sent to us, nor if there were cir***stances involving wrong coding, etc., so it would have been kicked back to the insurance company. All that would have NOT mattered to them. They just wanted the issue passed on to someone else.Administratively, St. Luke's is pathetic! Sadly, I have no idea what to do to correct this. But we will ignore any calls from this number.
I've had surgery at St. Lukes twice. I've therefore dealt with them when paying off bills. Yes, these callers are St. Luke's (or from some company that St. Luke's has outsourced their billing to, I don't know which). Yes, the callers are wanting you to verify personally identifiable information in order to be sure they're ACTUALLY SPEAKING with you, the patient, because they're paranoid of HIPAA violations. It's not weird, it's the result of the Federal medical privacy law. What, exactly, would you like the caller to tell you to "prove" that they are with St. Luke's? Tell you what, be smart, Google "st luke's hospital, houston, patient billing" {no quotes), click the first link to review the "St. Luke's Questions About Your Bill" page, then call one of the telephone numbers listed for Patient Financial Services.
She ( claiming from St. Lukes Hospital) called me on my cell phone asking for my birthday info and I didn't want to give it. When I asked why they want it, she said it is confidential. It is weired.
