Leave a CommentI received a cal from this number on my Verizon cellphone. I ignored the phone call and let it go to my voice mail. When I checked my voice mail there was a female voice that said "security department" then clicked off. It appears that the auto body shop down in Texas has had their phone number hijacked and that someone has acquired VZW phone numbers for a phishing scam. I did some digging and the company down in Texas that owns the phone number is called Collision King and they have an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau. I doubt that they would sacrifice their reputation to call a WA State cell phone.
I received the call on both of my land lines (one personal, one business) at home from 253-414-1982. Given the similarity in the phone numbers (last two digits in the numbers are about about 40 numbers apart) and the time between calls, this appears to be an sutodialer just making calls oping to snag someone gullable enough to enter in all of their info. Although from the area, I have never set foot in a TAPCO credit union.
I got the same call on my cellphone. Now I call them ten times a day just to ***** with them.
This seems to be a legitimate number for a Houston Auto Body Repair Company.BUT - the phone call I got tonight on my cell phone was a scam - said it was from TAPCO credit union (in Pierce County Washington) and my debit card had been deactivated - to reactivate all I needed to do was type in my 16 digit card number (good thing I don't do business with TAPCO) I called TAPCO and they said they and other credit unions have been hit with this kind of phishing scheme lately.
