Yes, Audatex is a legitimate company with offices worldwide. Here is their website: http://www.audatex.us/index.aspx for the US. I am a classic auto broker and have been called by them several times. They are polite and though it doesn't result in a sale every time, they are good to work with and they follow up well. I'll take their calls anytime.
these people are a bunch of time wasters.
This number is for Audatex/Solara. Once Automatic Data Processing, or ADP. They have one of the largest databases in the world and provide research and estimating programs for insurance companies and auto body repair facilities. This is one small facet of their business. I got a call from this number to assist me on a computer problem with their estimating software. They are legitimate.
Got a call from this number asking about my 1981 firebird that I had for sale on craigslist but I took that posting down 6 months ago. Very odd, I thought. It was a female caller.
I also got a call just now 12/18/09 and they said they had a client that just totaled a bike like mine and would like to replace it possibly with mine. I asked questions and she said they were locaters of vehicles and worked with insurance companies as a service. Wish I would have looked this up while I was on the phone with her, she seemed quite nervous about the whole thing. I look forward to my next call to tell them to buzz off!

I got a call from this number saying that they had an insurance company customer that is trying to locate a replacement for a clients totalled bike. Sounds fishy to me as the bike was on Craigslist.

Put them on a do not call list. I just did
This is a link I found with all of their information.http://www.numberzoom.com/en/7342143497
Called me at 6 in the morning. Called back but got an error message saying the call couldn't be completed.
They've called me for the past several days. Today, while I was sleeping, they called me twice within the hour. They said a customer out of Deerfield, FL (a nearby city) needed parts for his same model bike as the I sold. Asked me info on the bike and that was it. Same issue before though, everytime they'd call and I'd attempt to call back, "this number is not in service".
Same as above.Very helpful site, as the number is unlisted. Thanks,Now I know to tell the guy a really high price when he calls back. If everyone did it, we might be able to screw up the data for them
Continuous calling. Do not leave a message. Oh well. No message, no callback. If it's in reference to my bike they can buy it for $22,000. Then they can ask it all the questions they like.I've attempted to phone the number back, however a voice prompt tells me, the number does not exist...ending with a busy signal.
1-800-366-4237 is actually their California office, but they promised to contact the Michigan office to take my cell # off their list.
734-214-3497 keeps calling my cell. Doesn't leave a message
They keep calling but the number will not work if I call them back. They leave no message either.
This is a business hired by insurance companies to collect the selling price and conditions of a vehicle in a particular area. They do this to estimate the fair market value of a car when it has been totaled. They call from ads in the paper, online and also call car dealerships to get prices from the sales staff. They do not sell anything. They want to know what kind of shape a vehicle was in and how much it sold for. Some of you people are paranoid or have to much time on your hands.
I just received a call from the number above for my car that is listed in the AutoTrader. They asked only questions about the car and not about me, my address, etc. I am very suspicious! The caller said they were looking for a replacement car for their client and the client would be the one to be in touch with me and make the purchase if they were interested after seeing the car. What should I do if they call back?
Supposed 'vehicle locator service'
