a bogus telemarketer trying to get info

This number 1-657-961-3548 belongs to a very arrogamt bill collection companyknown as Portifolio Recovery****ociates and they have many deceptive ****ods to harass you.  They frequently us a number 1-000-000=000 or unavaliable or PRA.

We did research and yes its a scam, warning don't answer!!!!!!

called my cell phone and left no message an hour ago

Called just now (a***n) but left no message.

If you want the calls to stop, answer the call but make sure someone is listening then use your whistle.I wouldnt be surprised if you hear profanity afterwards.

How can I block this number?They are driving me crazy.I heard they are secondary debt collectors with not a leg to stand on but they sure know how to harress you.

I moved from MI five years ago.  I have never gotten these calls until about 6 months ago.  How do I get them to quit calling for so****ing I do not owe?

Portfolio also appears on another site that refers to debt collection scams........I keep getting these calls from this number and another. I have talked to the so called Debt Collector and when I said it was paid off years ago..........she then came up with some story about buying out another company and so on............this is what I found out years ago from GRANT WEBER(big debt collection co).........when they buy these old files, sometimes, they get the wrong box.........and, yes, it could be a box(usually doctor, radiologist, etc) of PAID PATIENTS!!!!!!!!! When you ask these so called collectors to send paperwork proving.........they don't .........the most recent scam was to offer me a Settlement..........I asked them to send the paperwork.........they never did........they said they had...........thennnn, I gave them my Trustees address and he never got it...........they wanted me to just send them $8,000 ***** nilly.........the sad thing, many people do because they think this is for real and don't know about the statue of limitations, collection laws and etc. The only way you will ever stop these people and the calls to keep reporting them to the Attorney General of the state they are in. According to this other site.......Portfolio is on the verge of being sued and they could lose their license to collect.............don't answer & report is your only recourse.Good Luck

they now have a new call back number of 1-877-436-0588 to some woman who does leave her name.....grrrr.

This company calls me several times a day.  I don't have bad credit so I have no idea who it is.  I have vonage so I can't block this number!

I answered the phone and they immediately s****ed calling me by my first name as if we were old friends. I ***g up on them, figured they were debt collectors.

Calling my cell phone.  No message being left. Also, 757-961-3547 calling and leaving no message on my cell.

So, if they want to get bank info from you and wipe your bank account out and threaten you that you can go to jail if you don't pay your dept; well, I believe in "An Eye For An Eye" thing. If they want to play games with you, play games back with them... Give them false info. If they call you back and tell you that you gave them the wrong bank account number, just tell them that you accidently gave them the wrong number and c****e just one number in that account. See if they call you back. Then just keep on playing!

I get the same calls all the time. I just **** up.

It's  a real company but it's illegal to threaten anyone with jail. They buy old debt that is past time to sue for and they don't care whether it's the person who owes that debt pays for it or somebody else that they can intidate into paying it. Don't give any information, DO NOT give your bank info, there are reports on the internet that they will clean it out.  LOOK UP DEBT VALIDATION letters, look up their address and send one to them.

I get theses same calls from 757-961-3548 portfolio recovery never heard of them untill now. A Mrs Johns leave this call back number 866-691-3568 is this another scam to get money? I do not give them any info but not sure if this is a scam. I moved from Michigan to North Carolina in 2007 but in Michigan I never got theses calls at all for 25 years now 2 years here and I get all theses calls this one and 4 more saying I owe money and will go to Jail unless I pay. so any info on this please and thanks
