If they can get you to acknowledge the debt even if it is 20 yrs ago they get a new clock. Just deny the debt or better yet don't answer the phone.

They are trying to collect a debt that is 1) over 10 years old and 2) I have no record of ever having this so-called debt. Not sure if they are legit. Won't give me a # to call back or send me info..

Recovery Portfolio Services as others have said. Illegally attempting to collect a debt where the statute of limitations has expired. Next call is to the FTC to file a formal complaint against them.

Recovery portfolio services: these people hire just about anyone...I'm a dentist and I tried to explain to them that they have the wrong #. I'm absolutely positive I don't owe anyone a dime. Very unprofessional and will be hearing from my lawyer soon as I recorded their whole conversation, I will try my best to shut this company down, as I already filed 3 different law suits for harassment in IL, CA, & FL against them on April 3, 2013. And they just called me again today!! Can you believe it???

FYI. These are debt collectors. They have purchased your debt for pennies on the dollar. If you owe a debt , I encourage you to pay it. However, I have been there, done that. I am very familiar with the FDCRA. If you owe a debt for less than $100, it is not recoverable. If a collector contacts you via phone, and you answer, your file then again becomes active from that day forward for another 7 years. That is how it remains on your credit report for so long. It is considered last point of contact. Every time you talk or speak just one word to a collector, it then moves it forward another seven years. Just FYI.
