1 800 375 5872I did receive the same message reqesting Date of birth. Scotia Bank never writes abusive langauge like what has been written in previous communication on this blog... BEAWRE Never give out your date of birth over the phone.
Actually, even bill collectors have rules. They are not allowed to call you before 9amor after 8pm (I am pretty sure about the times.... and time zones vary etc)So this 'all the time any day' stuff is not true.
I would suggest Scotiabank you be very careful in writing these edicts here. If your IP address can be traced your comments and opinions are very likely to get you into serious trouble with your VPs - and I will be more than happy to drop you in it - specifically your last sentence.
The only ***** here is the person using Obviously as a moniker. They CANNOT call you as often as they want - Not before 7am and not after 9pm Mon-Sa****ay.They cannot call you on Sundays nor on Statutory Holidays. The best way is to talk to the collector - explain your cir***stances, do not enter into any dialogue, do not offer any information and once you have explained your cir***tances you are free to discontinue the call. Obviously - get your FACTS correct before opening your mouth and being abusive. If they call at that frequency and outside the guidline hours they can be reported for abuse.
please confirm who this is
This is a legit number and I had deal with them before. They are very nice and helpful and will try to help you.
no it does not jack ****!
It's because people don't have jobs that you have one. I look forward to the end of this recession so that a**holes like you can go back to flipping burgers.
I dont even use my scotia account for anything other than my child tax to go into it and all I have is one Visa which I make payments on and dont owe that much on it either but apparently the Scotiabank National Collection Centre has tried to take out two ***dred and some odd dollars without any letter stating that I owe anyone money and without any phone call to me either. Has anyone else had this problem?? Literally there could be nothing that I owe money on besides the credit card and I make decent payments on it every month and every statement that I get online and in the mail says that $0.00 is the minimum payment due. Has anyone else ever had this problem before???
Apparently they do not call you. I just found out my husband was dead and he was not and they (Scotiabank) cancelled my car loan then I get a nasty letter saying I had to pay almost 2000.00 beause I was unaware of the situation. He was to have died in may they cacelled my loan in Sept and olny notified me of my missed payments six months later. How wrong is this
Actually, the consumer protection law says that they must send you a letter in the mail before trying to contact you by phone. But it is a real number. I know because I got behind my mortgage (actually because the Scotiabank did not c****e my payment frequency even though they confirmed it was going to be done!) and had to make arrangements to catch up. It's really a shame that the idiot above****sume all of us don't have a job. I work full-time and so does my husband. I got behind because of a mistake by Scotiabank. In my experience, I've usually talked to nice people, except for one **** that I ended up reporting.
To the person who wrote the post dated July 17th, You're an idiot! You don't think S&I can't find out who you are? Management already knows about this post and it's going up the line you dumb a**. It's just a matter of time before they find you. You should s**** looking for another job and get out before you're "removed". You have broke Scotiabank's code of conduct dork, you're history. You're probably a part timer with a head full of ****!To Scotiabank customers, This is a real number and other than this ***** the callers are there to help you get out from under.

Don't everyone jump to conclusions about paying your bills. It is a legit phone number and it is the Bank of Nova Scotia, but sometimes they are calling because they have your phone number incorrectly linked to a delinquent loan file.
Hello All.I am here to clear your concerns once and for all.I am here working at the National Collections Centre for Scotiabank. I am in one of 2 call centres located in Ottawa and Toronto. This is not a customer service line, we do not need to treat you like a small child. We will give you the harsh reality of the fact that you took a loan that your not paying. Most of the time we treat you with respect, but if you get mad at us for your mistakes, we will not take with with a smile. We will end calls on rude people. This is the last stop for customers before having their Mortgages, Car Loans, Credit Lines and Visa products sent to forclosure, repossession or collection agencies. We will not release any personal information on any accounts without first confirming your Date of Birth and Mailing Address. If you can not provide this, we then ask for the last 3 digits of your SIN number... NOT the full number, just the last 3 digits. Also, if we call you and you do not wish to release your information, there is absolutely no soliciting, we direct you to the ***nch to inquire.I must emphisized this point. WE ARE A COURTESY SERVICE. We try to help people from having their credit affected, if you don't care, well we don't really care either. If you dont want to make your mortgage payments, we really dont care, we will forclose.Scotiabank made ***dreds of millions of dollars last year, if you think you taking your business elsewhere matters... it doesnt.Lastly, I will leave you with this advice. Dont pay your bills, because of your neglect, I have a job, and most of you dont.

Yes, they call because they are seeking their money - but lets be polite and respectful here, there's no need for violent insults that include cursing. Be respectful to others and yourself please.
