Leave a CommentI got one of these "Bueno Neighbors" in New Mexico. Getting past the nice stationary and fancy font, Google brought me here doing a name search. Like others have experienced, the card indicates the sender is trying to contact you and has been unable to reach you by phone; but that they have a "parcel" for you and goes on to list business hours, contact (Barbara), and lists a local phone number for Albuquerque 505-881-4998 and toll-free for Santa Fe 800-574-3599. From all indications, this appears to be a scam in that your "parcel number" is probably a reference to your name and address, which then could possibly be used to send someone to your door or use the address for other marketing purposes. E-mail scammers regularly include "opt-out" options on their messages so they can determine which addresses are valid, figuring quite simply that if you respond by opting out... the address has a body behind it. If you receive one of these, respond at your own peril.
I got the Bueno Neighbors post card today. It says that they have been unable to contact me by phone and that I should call (910)423-0970 and ask Barbara for the parcel. This is a North Carolina number so they must be getting around.
I got the same card and they offered a chili's gift card or a stay at a 4 star resort. they said they work with universal water and will come test your water ect... I dont know about anyone else but I don't want people to come into my home.
Just got the same card as listed above.Just moved in as well.
Got the same card as well. Tried reverse number lookup and no listing for 800 number...the "local" number in ABQ has a listing in FLAGSTAFF, AZ. No last name for Barbara and no company name inside and no return name or address on envelope - SCAM all the way.
Just received the same card in the mail. Can't get away from junk mail no matter if it's snail mail or e-mail! I doubt the mortgage companies and realtors are selling off names. It is public record when you by a house, e.g the filing of the deed and mortgage, etc. They just have to fish the public records to find who has recently bought a home.
Received the same card, don't think it's the mortgage companies selling our info, it's easy for companies (and scamers now too) to get our information and send us ****!
Same note, 1 month after I bought my new house.. I tried calling, but no response. Thanks for all the info listed above. Dang Mortgage/Realtor companies selling off names. By chance are any of the letters being received by people who got a mortage through Countrywide?
We just had one today. As soon as I saw it, no return address, nothing to identify it as genuine = SCAM!I wonder if we can call and reverse the charges on them? :-)
I got the same card today - Mar 24, 2009. Identical to Steve's above.
I got a card today (March 23, 2009) No return address / First Class mail.Mine was apparently 'customized' for "Spanglish-speakers". The headline inside says "Bueno Neighbors".If "Barbara" was 'legit', why won't she put the name of her company and/or a return address?I won't be calling "Barbara".
The envelope looks like a formal invitation. Sent with a first class (42 cents) stamp. Listed two phone numbers;800-574-3599505-881-4998Ask for Barbara.Post marked from Albuquerque, NM. This is unsolicited mail, I treat this like SPAM.
Got one too. Thanks for posting. I won't waste my time.
Received the card and won't call. I trust very little lately.
Received the same "invitation" yes****ay as well. B-Hopefully when you called to redeem your $20 gift card you didn't give them any personal information. Seems like the word "scam" is written all over this.
I called the number, it's an organization that welcomes people into their new homes when they move in. I get a $20 gift card...can't say it was worth it but mystery solved I suppose.
I got the "invitation" card as well. Mine was mailed from Albuquerque. I didn't call, got too many parcels already.
Just got the same card in the mail about the "parcel". Between the awful grammar and the lack of return address, I can't say I'm going to be calling "Barbara" any time soon.
Received same "invitation" as described above.
800-574-3599, spam mail made to look like an "invitation". I'm sure they have a package for me....NOT.
Sent a mysterious card in the mail claiming I have a package waiting for me to be picked up.
