Leave a CommentJust received a fourth call from Alan, from 1-877-572-5715,, same as all above. What a scam!!!!!!!!!
Alan called me as well- saw my car posting on Craigslist. I did not call him back but am happy this information was available for me to know this is a scam.
"Alan" called me 3x with his number blocked. Called my phone company to see whether or not I can block the caller, was told they can't do anything about it, unless I am willing to c****e phone #.
Hahaha. Got the same call today. I figured it was a scam but wanted to find out more about who was calling my house leaving a recorded message.Of course Allen was not there. To clean it up a bit I told the young lady to lose my # or she will have my foot up her****If everyone would call them at night, when they are closed, with your # blocked and leave them a message that your interested, then leave a call back # that is for there offices do you think they will get the hint.To block your # before you dial just hit *67 then dial your # will be blocked..Have fun. :)
yup same here! TWO messages from Alan AKA Longwood Industries. We didn't call hem back.....we knew it was a scam
877-572-5715---Allen strikes a***n!****ential buyers, 501 C3 company, the whole recorded spiel....I smell. . .FRAUD!
Allen is on the loose a***n. He has a diffrent # too. 877-574-5715. I have had my 2000 Ford f150 in the local area paper and had my cell phone as a call back number. oops!!! Called the number and got a automated ma****e. I will call back and tell them that I am not interested. Hope they get the hint.
I received a call today from who they called a Ne***ska speciality auto based company specializing in placing buyers with sellers, and****ured me they could get more than my asking price for a Wrangler I put on Craigslist. Considering I live in Oregon, Please.. I just checked ***A and KBB for the value of my vehicle, and come to find out I owe about $5K more than retail value, and $7K more than trade in. So I'd say I'll just keep it, and quit advertizing it. I was just looking at getting a larger 4WD truck to more safely launch and load my boat, though what I do have will do the job, but a little on the small capacity side. Fortunately I only have to travel 3 miles to the launch. To think someone would be ****** enough to pay 5-7K more than they have to.... you know, like aparently I did (lol)
longwood has called me 3 times trying to scam me. They got my number from either craigslist or erepairables.com. They claimed they had buyers for my truck, so I told them to tell the "potential buyers" to call me and I will sell it to them. I'm not giving them any of my money. I've reported them to the do not call registry twice now. they call from 866-774-1752 but tell you to call 800-821-7025.
9/25/08--I received a message from Allen only he adjusted his message to fit the boat I have for sale. He said he was from Longwood Industries and represented a 501(c)3 organization. My ad was in the Little Nickel newspaper for South King County. (Seattle is in King County) plus in their online service. I contacted Little Nickel. They were unaware of Allen and his organization but they referred me to this site. I never returned his call.
Allan called from 800-821-7025 he said he would match my vehicle to an prospective buyer, the only thing is that my 'vehicle' is a recreational fifth wheel, I advertised on both Craig's list and Kijiji. There's your connection
Found more info on this Scam..."Adentis Inc, located @ 312 2nd Street Suite 2, Roanoke, Va. 24011. This is the actual company who owns and operates the thebiglot.com and autohopper.com. Their staff is trained to tell consumers that they are Longwood Industries, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization...""There is one lady in their office who is employed by Longwood, she scans the newspapers and online listings of car sellers nationwide, and enters the seller's phone number into an automatic dialer, with a pre-recorded message from 'Alan' who explains, in a 20 second message that he noticed that Longwood Industries already has buyers for their car (or boat, or motorhome, motorcycle, ATV, 5th wheel, travel trailer, etc.) in their area, and to please call back for more details @ 800-821-7025. Sound familiar??? Folks take it from me, DON'T FALL FOR THE SCAM!!!! If you call back you will have a salesperson answer the call and tell you that Alan is in the Research Department but they will be happy to help you if they can."
Just got a call from allan ya right im not that ****** (800-821-7025)do not reply to it .
What a coincidence! We got the same call 2x. Inquisitive minds ask whether this person/company has anything to do with our vehicle having been broken into while on vacation. Incidentally, vehicle ownership was stolen along with electronic goods. We don't even have a vehicle for sale. Where did they get this information from? I will certainly be passing this on to our police contact to pursue along with their investigation.
Same as above. Sounds like Allen is a recording.
Yes, I too received yet another call from 'Alan' w/Longwood Industries, which he claims is a 501(c)3 organization with a buyer for the vehicle I have recently offered for sale. This is perhaps the 3rd or 4th call 'Alan' has made to my home within the past week or so. I called their 800-821-7025 number; 'Alan', of course, was unavailable... my guess is he doesn't exist. I informed the person that my number has been on the national 'Do Not Call' list for many years and asked them to remove my telephone number from their database. (FYI - the gal then promptly ***g-up on me.) I then submitted formal complaints about the repeated calls to my home with our state's Attorney General office, the Federal Trade Commission, the Federal Communications Commission, and the National 'Do Not Call' List. But, our government, being the 'train wreck' that it is, will likely not resolve anything. I view the whole exercise as an opportunity to just **** off a bit of steam. So, if you too need to do so... give 'em*****! Have a great day! Bye for now!

Just got the "Alan" call myself. I have an ad in a local paper-they promised me that if i send them $150. they would have my care sold by this weekend or my money back! Of course, no one can actually reach "Alan"... I spoke to Deanna. Alanis "in another billing doing research". If they do not sell my car, they refund me $120. I'm not a great at math, but isn't that like minus $30?
just heard the message on the answering ma****e...same as above "saw you were selling your vehicle, may have****ential buyers..." Thanks to the info here won't be calling him back
got 2 calls from this Alan. Did not answer. I am located in eastern Ca***a (Quebec) he is in Oregon ....
I got the same call from 1-800-821-7025 saying he saw we were selling our car and he has people interested. My questions are "why is Alan calling me?" and "what about the "DO NOT CALL LIST" that the government established to protect us from such nuisances. If he is a sincere person and looking out for others, then why didn't he give these people the contact info. I am not calling him back and I thank everyone who had the gumption to share the same feelings about the phone call they received from this person. I'm in Maryland, he's in Oregon.... H E L L O ... I'm not shipping a $1,000 vehicle anywhere so he can make a profit. NON-PROFIT my BU.T, noone goes to this much trouble without it making them money somewhere along the way.Thank you for letting me vent.
I recieved several ****up calls over the past few days. When I let it go the ansewering ma****e picked it up and it was for "Alan". Obviously the ****up calls were from this Longwood Industries. I thought ****up calls were a form of telephone harassment and therefor illegal. I will check into this and let everyone know. We should all file complaints with the FTC,Our states attorney generals and local phone companys.
LEFT A MESSAGE CONTAINING INFORMATION ABOUT A CALL I WAS SELLING
Left a message on answering ma****e that he saw that I was selling a car and he runs a service that matches buyers and sellers. "Longwood Industries Car Sales Service" He saw this on Craig's List which contained a specific notice not to contact by
