Leave a CommentThis is legitimate, I only know this because I have a loved one that is incarcerated in Va. If you answer and follow prompts refusing the call they should definitely stop. Good luck!
This automated system keeps calling and I keep hitting ignore.
I have been getting calls from this number at least 2 or 3 a day.
I recently began getting phone calls from (804) 674-1535 on my cell phone. The calls persisted and I did *67 on my land line to find out who was calling. It was a voice mail from MCI Global stating and inmate at Deep Meadow Correctional Center in Powhatan, ******ia was trying to put me on his call list. If I did not want to be on the inmate's call list, the next time I got the call, answer it and block it by listening to the message. I was tired of getting these endless calls, so answered it. I couldn't make out the inmate's name (recorded, like your own voice mail), but I pressed 1 for English, 2 to block, and 1 to permanently get removed from any inmate calls from this facility. I haven't gotten a call since.I called Deep Meadow Correctional Center. They verified they do use MCI Global and if I did not want to accept the calls, then to follow the instructions. I know of no one in jail, so****ume the inmate had the wrong cell number. What consequences have callers suffered from (804) 674-1535? The Verizon line is traceable to Capitol Square in Richmond, ******ia.
*** this perison has been calling me for 5 times a day a person in jail want to talk to you or somthing
I have been receiving call from this number 804-674-1535 I dont know the person who is requesting that they be added to my list I wish this to stop. More important I want to know how this person got my phone number.
Why is that when this call comes in from this #, after going through all the motions, I don't get anyone on the other end? This is after I accept the call from my daughther, knowing that's it's her.
1-804-674-1535 IS FROM MCI CORRECTIONAL LINK HERE IN ******IA. SOMEONE IN A ******IA PRISON HAS REQESTED THEY CALL YOUR PARTICULAR "PHONE NUMBER". THAT YOU WILL ACCEPT CHARGES FOR CALLS FROM A CERTAIN PRISONER. tHRE THINGS TO REMEMBER: 1ST IT COULD BE FROM SOMEONE YOU KNOW2ND: IF YOUR NUMBER IF FAIRLY NEW, IT MAY BE A OLD PHONE NUMBER OF A PRISONER'S AQUINTANCE.3RD: THE ONE TO BE CAREFUL OF, (BECAUSE TEENAGERS SOMETIMES ANSWER THE PHONES), IS A PRISONER WHO RANDOMLY JUST ASK FOR ANY NUMBER OR OVERHEARD SOMEONE ELSE PREVIOUSLY REQUEST OR DIAL YOUR NUMBER. IF YOUR DESIRE IS TO STOP THESE CALLS IS TO ANSWER THE CALL AND "CLICK NO" OR SAY 'NO!' SOMETIMES THEY MAY CALL BACK UP TO 3 TIMES, BECAUSE THEY MAY HAVE REACHRD SOMEONE AT A RESIDENSE WHO DOESN'T WANT THE CALL TO COME THRU; WHEREAS A WIFE, HUSBAND, ETC. MAY WANT TO HEAR FROM THE PRISONER. oR A QUEST COULD HAVE ANSWERED THE PHONE AND IDIN'T GIVE THE RIGHT ANSWER.i HOPE THEY ANSWERS ANY QUESTIONS & RELAYS SOME FEARS1
This obnoxious caller has been calling 3 x per day for the past 5 days!
My teenage daughter had received average of 3 phone calls per day from this number. I listened one time to the automated call. It was an inmate in a correctional facility asking if my daughter's number could be included in his calling list. I pressed "one" on the touch tone hoping that call will stop. The call is still ongoing. As much as my daughter has been ignoring the calls, we wanted it to stop. I need advise...
This number has called my phone since New Years Eve, with today being January 3rd. They have called me 2-3 times a day, and I haven't picked up, seeing as how i don't have long distance on my phone. Should i not answer and press 1? Because i know no inmate in a VA prison nor does any of my family. It is really getting annoying and the man with NY accent is just a *****.
i've got a friend in VA. prison ....i could'nt call collect to a cell phone from prison... don't know if i can get a call on a prepaid phone? sounds less like a scam, more like prisoners looking for someone to talk to.
So it appears that Global Tel*Link (GTL) bought out the former MCI Department of Corrections line of business and handles inmate communications services. (http://www.globaltellink.com) So the messages and some of the caller ids make sense... I guess. But why the heck GTL (or an inmate) is calling any of us is beyond me unless, of course, any of you knows an inmate in prison. I too called the number back and heard the guy with the accent tell me to follow the prompts when GTL calls back, whether I want to talk to an inmate or not.
I got the call just now (12:30 pm) on my cell phone. Missed the first one and the phone rang a split second later. Answered it, as I am from Richmond and thought it could be a number c****e, and got a message saying it was a global so****ing and it'd call back three times a day for the next five days if I did not follow the voice prompts. Press 1 for English and... so I ***g up. And here I am online resear****g this thing.
I got a call this evening, and when I called it back I got a voicemail. The voice had a NY accent, and was not one I recognized. Considering I am not familiar with any inmate, I know this is a fraud. DON'T PRESS ONE!!!! They ask you to press one regardless of whether or not you want the inmate to call. This is too su****ious!!!!
Yup, I got the same thing from this richmond, va based number. Has fraud and scam written all over t if you ask me.
This automated message left a voice mail once. Four calls today. Finally picked up to hear automated message that stated this autodialer would call me three times a day unless I opted out. I followed prompts and it was supposedly an inmate from a VA prison, and I had to opt out. I did not trust this to work, but tried. Ever since I have had this Verizon number, I have received numerous dunning and other weird calls and wrong numbers to previous holders of my number.
Just got it a***n 7:25 PM 29 November 2007. ***g up after it asked to press one for english.
Got a call 29 November 2007 @ 4:01 PM, only called once, we missed the call and havent been called back yet.
Interesting. I just got a prepaid phone and upon activation, almost immediately, I got calls from this number.
they call twice a day-every day.
Same exact thing has happened to me. S****ed a few days ago. Today is 10/26. How do they get one's number?
The calls s****ed on 10/4 in the evening, 10/5 3 times in around noon and a***n around 7:00pm. The message claims that an inmate in prison has put my phone number on his allow to call list and would call for 5 days if I didn't answer the questions. I just **** up.
On 9/19 around 12:00 noon I received 3 calls (back to back) from this number. I missed the first 2 calls and then picked up the 3rd one. It was an automated operator so I ***g up. Then at 3:30 I got another call from the same number, I answered and it was the automated operator a***n, this time I listened for a minute and it stated that this operator will call my number 3 times per day and if I did not want to receive these calls to be sure to do everything it asked me to do...then asked me to press 1 for English or 2 for Spanish. So I ***g up a***n.
