Leave a CommentRec'd a call from 804 968 2000, caller id stated "cap 1remote acc", and left message stating to call 800 323 2988. i called, they wanted me to enter the 16 digit number, i declined. Contacted customer service number on the back of my card, and they said it is in no way a capital one number. another rip off attempt.
Interesting...this phone number was just trying to call my cell phone within a minute after I had called Capital One to dispute a charge on my card (using the legitimate Capital One number from their website, 800-955-7070). I never answer my cell phone unless I recognize the number. They left no message. Now I'm wondering if someone has somehow mirrored the Capital One call center.
I just received a voicemail from this number. The voicemail said that there was su****ious activity on my account (gave the last four digits too) and said to call back at 800 239 7054. The thing is, I haven't received my Capital One card yet. Unless it was stolen en route, how could there be su****ious activity if I haven't received or activated the card? I'm thinking it's a scam, and that scares me. Might cancel my card right when I receive it.
I just got a call from this number at my job. I don't have a Capital One credit card and she didn't ask for me. Said she had a report of a fraud with one of our customers and wanted to know if she could confirm the address'! I told her not without so****ing in writing. The woman said "ok" and ***g up! I work at a bank and that's pretty scary they're trying to 'scam' info!
Addum: When calling the number, I get a bogus message saying "You have reached a non-working number for Capital One"
Just got a call from 804-968-2000.. female voice said they were from "Consolidated Opportunities"
804-968-2000 Me too. Same number. Woman wanted to leave a message for someone who hasn't lived here in over 20 years. She got VERY rude. I told her not to call back. It sounds more like fraud than fraud prevention to me.
Got a similar call today from someone claiming to be from Capital One. The voicemail said to call them back at a different 800 number, and that it was not a solicitation. Problem is, they left the message for some name I've never even heard of. Asked me to call back 18002397054. DO NOT call this number back - It is NOT an actual Capital One number!!!! This is a fraud attempt!!! If you are ever in doubt, call the number listed on the back of your actual credit card! They can transfer you to all the right departments.
Capitial One Fraud department advised me that the credit card database from a merchant I purchased so****ing before was stolen/hacked into and they needed to close my account and send me a new card. They also wanted to confirm the most recent transactions.
i just activated my capital one credit card today and spent thirty dollars on pizza. Not long after i got a call from this number. Didnt answer. Later tried to use card and it was declined. I called and they said the acount was closed.... 4 hours after activation. They wouldnt give me a reason. Anyone know what happened?
This is CapitolOne Fraud Investigation Team, just received a call from them at my work.
Got a call from this # as well - Wanted my SS# which I did not give. They wouldn't tell me why they were calling.
just was called as well. funny. i've registered my number (used to home now cell) on do not call list. is there not some protection?
This was a call from their Fraud Department. They were confirming some recent big charges. This is a great site!
Just got a phone call from them a couple minutes ago. They said they were from capital one, and they have some new procedure. They said I applied for a credit card (which i did) but the address i applied with does not match the address they had on the account. At the end though, they asked me to verify the name of my mother. That was fishy.
Just got a call from the 804.968.2000 number. My first call from them. This website is so informative, thanks to everyone that uses it!!I've used this to google a number from Sprint too. Cheers,Heather
I received a call from this number on April 8, 2008. It was from Capitol One, as I called the number on the back of my card to varify it. This is a legal number from Capitol One Fraud hot line allert.
I 've received a call from this # 804-968-2000 this morning, Monday, March 10, 2008 at 11:55AM, and the gentleman asked for a weird name and I that him that there's no such person here and that it's cellphone number. After he's ***g up, I've googled the 800# and found many links to it, and one of them led me to this site. I just bought the LG Chocolate cellphone on 29 February 2008, I don't how those telemarkers could have gotten my number.
Same call from Cap One today, Call Center from India and the return call number was unintelligble.I have had CapOne for two days and they have been a major pain in the **** already
Rcd Call supposedly from Capital One Customer Value Team regarding new login procedures and access ID for my accounts. Stated they could only give access codes over the phone and they would not be mailed.
Looks like it was from CapitalOne bank. Got the same call # today myself.
This one has called twice, once this morning and once last week (looking at my log). Both times they left a message asking me to please call them back. Its the second su****ious phone call I've gotten today.
