Wanted my personal information outside of VRBO.

They Encoded the phone number in the VRBO message so it would not be blocked. Wanted to rent my home with a company/ certified check. The wanted me to send them the following: Name Address Phone number Email

They tried to leave a message but ended up just giggling on the vm instead

Pretended to be from US Social Security Administration saying criminal activity was associated with my SS# and I should call this number to give personal info. - which I didn’t do of course

Left a voicemail, said not to disregard the call and to call the number back. Did not leave any info or explanation as to why I needed to call back. Thick accent, minimum information, and an unofficial phone number.

Similarly to others, a man with what sounded like an Indian accent, said that a criminal activities filing was being filed under my name and social security number and I need to called them.

Said that we had an illegal situation involving the SSA and if we didn’t get in touch immediately there would be legal action taken against us
