Leave a CommentI called this number back after answering and hearing a recorded message about an address c****e and checks being returned. See I actually did order checks and they were delivered 1 day before I moved to my new address so they were returned. I called the number on the back of my chase debit card and they asked the same info, account number and pin. I opted to be transferred to option 6 (all other inquiries), to ask someone if this was a fraudulent number and who did I talk to? The exact same person that I talked to from the 877 #! I'm positive because he had the most annoying voice I've ever heard and had no idea how to answer any of the questions I had. But he was from Chase because it was the customer service number from the back of the card. I still find it sketchy that the number isn't listed anywhere though, so I'm going to cancel my card and c****e my pin just in case.
this number is bs
This number is legitimate. I spent 30 minutes in the phone with Chase and multiple departments within...
I got a phone call from this number today. a voice mail was left on my phone asking me to call back to verify address for delivering new card from chase. I called back, went through operation menu, chose option3. A woman answered phone, I told her I didn't have debit card account with them and never ordered any card. She asked me for my Social Security number. I repeated that I didn't have account with them. she then asked me if I had any other type account with chase, I said I had chase credit card. She offered to transfer my call to the credit card department which I didn't accept. I then called the no. list on my credit card and found out they never made such phone call. I wish I found this website earlier, I would have known it is a scam. I wonder why chase hasn't done anything about it since it apparently affected their customers. does anyone have any idea where to report this issue?
I got a letter from Chase verifying that I had made a c****e of address request which I had not. I was directed to either go online to a particular site or to call their 877 number. I did the latter and foolishly gave them my social security number which I thought I had to do to verify I was the owner of the account. Then I was asked similar questions to those mentioned above which I answered. They next asked my debit card # and pin # which fortunately I do not have. I compared their number with the numbers listed on a previous Chase statement and realized the similarity but the differences as well. I then called the actual Chase number listed on my monthly statement and was told that they had no such post office box or telephone number. I can't believe I was fooled.
Just got this same number and called it. Then called Chase and the lady verified that this is a Chase number and the phone call I got was legi***mate.
W***ver thinks this number is Chase IS WRONG. I got a call very much like what was posted here-asking to have my card ready when I called back. Stated she was with a collection agency representing Chase. I called Chase to verify that this number was /was not a Chase affiliate, collection dept of theirs or has any link to Chase Bank-it DOES NOT! Now, Chase phone numbers listed on their "Contact Us" page (Posted as a web link above in a prior comment) has similar numeric characters in different order but this number IS NOT CHASE! DO NOT GIVE ANY INFORMATION TO THEM! What lazy, useless people that have nothing better to do than try to scam hard working people out of money-get a job and stop living off of tax payers.
TJohnston -- You are incorrect - an 888 number is listed, but 877 goes to a different call. Cancel your card!
Wait! Just went to the Chase website and clicked on their "Contact Us" link and this number IS listed.https://www.chase.com/ccp/index.jsp?pg_name=ccpmapp/shared/assets/page/phone2Whew...I feel better. But, I think I'll go in and deal with my local bank instead of doing this stuff over the phone
Great! What an idiot I am! Got a similar call from this number. Our Bank (Washington Mutual) has been bought out by Chase, so we are getting new cards and new checks. Got a message on my answering ma****e saying we needed to call this number to verify our address.I went through an automated system that asked for my card number, then got a guy who asked me to confirm my Social Security number which, like an IDIOT, I gave him!! Then he asked question like, "Tell me if you have ever lived at any of these addresses" and then listed several addresses. Then asked if I "associated with any of these people" and he listed three names. Then asked if I was****ociated with any of these "organizations" and listed three. It was at that point I found this site and ***g up! I can't believe I fell for it! Guess I'll call the bank. Maybe I should call the cops....
I had the same experience- An incomplete message on my phone from Chase about updating the address for my debit card****cept I do not have a debit card from Chase, so it must be a bogus number. I'm glad I checked out this website!
This UNKNOWN company left me a vm claiming that I needed to confirm my address. I had mail that was supposedly being returned. Like a rookie I called and entered my Chase debit# in the automated system. The system wanted my pin, that is when my radar really went up. Bare in mind I was always su****ious (trust your instincts fellow consumers. I negated entered my pin spoke to a rep and verifed my address which they already had. I called Chase and they couldn't verify the number-meaning it was BS. I immediately cancelled the card. That will never happen a***n. Please be careful.
I have been called repeatedly by this number, and left with the same cut-off, difficult to understand message about needing to verify an address. It sounded very sketchy so I called the Chase number on the back of my debit card. This number is not Chase, as verified with the bank's fraud department. The number is set up to seem just like Chase's phone service but it is a front and not secure. Always contact Chase via the number on your debit or credit card or their website.
Wanted a correct address for my check order. I didn't order checks from Chase I order mine from an outside source.
I missed a phone call and when I checked the voice mail, it was from Chase requesting I update the address on my Debit Card. They left the phone number1-877-342-4273 option 3, or come by Chase. My caller ID showed 1-800-555-0433 I had to listen to the message twice because they spoke quickly, it was a very short recorded message. I called Chase from the number on the back of my debit card, they said it was probably fraud. I looked up the number on the Internet and it lead me to this site. Always be careful and call the number on your card rather than give information over the phone.
i confirmed with chase that this is their number by 1-877-68CHASE
Caller left a message saying that 2 debit cards had been sent from Chase but had been undeliverable. Asked that I call 1-877-342-4273 and mention "Option 3" to give correct address.
I just got off the phone with Chase and this is not a number****ociated with Chase. I got a letter from "Chase" wanting to confirm an address c****e I had made and requesting I call this number. This number asks you to enter your debit card number and pin number. The real Chase that I was able to get a hold of said they would never ask for a pin number and that this number was not****ociated with them.
same here. they said they were from Chase.. but i called Chase and they confirmed it was a fraudulent number. fyi Chase (and probably other banks) will NEVER ask for the full social security number.
sketchy phone call wanting personal banking info
