Leave a CommentThe messages above are all dated several months ago. He is still at it. Called me yes****ay and today and said my computer is sending out error messages that mean that it is downloading computer viruses. Says he is Mark from Fixmycomputer.com. He wanted me to press the window flag ****on and letter r so that he could show me what was going on in the background of my computer. (I****ume that would get the computer to "run" in order to run the program mentioned earlier.) He said that would show that he was legitimate. (Not really). He said he would then turn me over to a Microsoft Certified Technician who would get my computer running fine. I told him that if I had called him for advice I might be willing to work with him on the computer, but that because he called me, I really did not know enough about him to go into the computer with him. That I would go to my local computer person and make sure everything is fine. The call came while I was updating Microsoft Windows and the HP updates as well. I feel that one of those updates triggered this call. He may be legitimately fixing computer issues, but he is using Gorilla marketing to do it. Or, if he is illegally getting into people's computers under a guise with mal-intent, he should be stopped. It is very creepy to have someone call that way.
Got the same call today from fixmycomputer. A man with Indian Accent claimed to have received messages from Microsoft that my computer was infected with viruses. The phone numer he gave me was bogus; it was a cell phone in Texas. Clearly a scam. Don't know how he got our phone number but fixmycomputer.com has no business address on their website and uses a godaddy.com server for their web hosting. Anyone can get a web address from godaddy for less than $10. The program, eventvwr, that someone else mentioned earlier is an event viewer that can be used for remote monitoring of your system. Don't be fooled.
Hi. I did understand clearly, through the accent, that the caller represented fixmycomputer.com. He first asked if I had a computer in the home. When I said no, he then asked if I had a laptop. I a***n said no. he then asked if anyone else in the home had a laptop. A***n I said no. The caller concluded the call without a further word. I could have advised him my phone number is in the Do Not Call Registry, but I went this other route instead.
Anonymous, March 10, said so****ing that got me to thinking: Are we all Dell customers? Years ago, my husband bought a PC as a gift for me from Dell. He does not use a computer at all, and has no Internet accounts in his name; however, when this man s****ed calling about fixing the computer, he asked for _Mr._ G. Is Dell our common thread in receiving these calls? Maybe Dell's customer files have been violated?
I also got a call from this number this a.m. while on my pc. I think he was foreigh because I could not understand who he said the company name was. He stated so****ing about my PC and when I began to ask who the company was he ***g up on me. It seems that they are up to so****ing. Be careful of any strange charges to your phone bill or PC information.
We just got this same call, he told us that he got an email from Dell and was told to fix our computer for us. He said to click run then type "eventvwr" and that's when we stopped. We asked for his info and he said that he was from Online Tech Support but that we could not have this number and his website was http://www.fixmycomputer.com/ but it doesn't look official. Don't follow through on his scheme or I'm sure he'll obtain some important information you have stored on your computer.
To Mrs G.If he calls a***n i will file a complain. I'm sure he is trying to hacking to your computer. Thanks for the advise.
Hi, yes this man also called me on the 5th. It was strange; he told me to go to the s**** ****on and click so****ing and press "run this program." Do not trust this man because he will get information about you through this spam trick.
If he calls us a***n I'm going to file a complaint with the FCC. If you're interested, here is the URL to download the complaint form: http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm?sid=d1e37&id=d1e53
No I could not understand. Can sombody trace from where this call came.
Doug, could you understand much of anything he said?
Sa****ay, Mar. 5; 2:25 PM He just called a***n. When I told him I'm on the Do Not Call List, he ***g up on me.
I received the same call today as well. seems like they are trying to collect information
A man with an unintelligible East Indian accent called from 877-999-7699. From the few words I could pick out of his ramble, I think he wanted to fix my computer. It was a strange call and certainly unsolicited.
