Leave a CommentSaid they are calling from Oportun the loan company I just paid off however, the return call was spam
Said I ordered $928.99 in bitcoin through PayPal. They wanted me to get on my computer. I wasn't at my computer so he gave me a different number to call him back late4. I called my bank they said not to call back.
Received an invoice for $299.96 for Norton antivirus, which I did not ordered. As self proclaimed Norton employees offered to clear the invoice claiming it had been sent by a hacker who had my computer information. After much wrangling offered to call my bank to see if any charge had been made but I declined and ***g up.
They will attempt to disconnect your security while speaking to you on the phone, also they will ask you to leave your computer on while distracting you from the computer screen. They seem to use an additional ploy of having you see an attempted bank transfer from chase to you - here is where the requested amount will increase beyond the refund amount - then they will c****e the amount on your online banking - requesting you return the increased amount. I was able to compare the amount they c****ed on my computer by observing that the transfer did not happen in my banking account on my phone - which they will ask you not to do as they claim it will interfere with the transfer. By paying attention you will see what they are attempting on your computer.
Those using this number are saying they are Norton antivirus and accessing your computer to stop you from being billed from unordered purchases by first sending an invoice for****ential payment by your bank account. Accessing your computer by having you download a program from Norton that help them access your computer to intercept the future charge. Once on your computer they say the payment is pending and they need to refund your money by accessing your online banking app. By using your computer, they c****e, the bank value above what they claim you will owe - they call it a refund to your account, before the pending deduction. Then they say they will need you to send them a third of the increased amount by Vanilla Prepaid Card at Walgreens. They use the conception that it is not your money, and they only want a little back. They leave this number on the invoice emailed to you to call them if you wish to stop the charge 1(832)802-4054. The invoice gives you incentive to call initiating the scam. They don't answer that number but call you back one of two numbers - 1(657)667-2963 or 1(888)407-0296.
