Just got the same text message....hope no one gets scammed!
I just got a text from these people telling me to call them for a $100 rebate card.
Oh...forgot. Also, when I asked who is sponsoring this $100. win for me, they said it was from a company I just did business with a few days ago and it was to show their appreciation. They didn't identify the company...they couldn't!
I just got the same thing today. Called them and asked for details which were sketchy at best. Between my sentences they kept on asking for my name and address. I said, "so I pay you $4.95 and you give me $100 gift card?" The answer was "yes, name and address please." I asked how to pay and they said credit or debit card!! I said that I do not give out that information to strangers. They said we are on a recorded line so we are legit. What? I called back a number of times and got a different person with the same foreign accent....hmmmm. I wonder how many people have been scammed already!
Got a SMS text message. 3/10/2011. "You have been chosen to recieve a $100 Cash Rebate Card! To find out more call toll free 888-***-3944 TXT STOP to STOP." I called then number and talked to female rep "Sam Jackson" Heavy foreign accent. Said the company was "New Line" located at 1111 Desert Lane Las Vegas NV 98102. She continued to try to get my name, address, and phone number. When I asked for their Do Not Call Policy, she gave me a number to call: 888-326-7156. I called that number, and it was owned by an unrelated company in Illinois, who had no idea what I was talking about.
