They called from 704.470.0465 and said to call 888.680.2791 with reference ID 8283. I ended up calling them telling them I had zero student loans and they could go f*ck themselves for calling people to scam them in the middle of a pandemic.

This number poses as a college loan payment rep. They give you a fake PIN number to reference. The government won’t initiate a call over your school loan payment. All correspondence is done via your Student account.

Spam. Left voicemail in regards to my federal student loans (don’t have any) and asked for a call back with a reference number (8283) to discuss the effect of new federal guidelines on my student loans.

Definite scam. Want information on how much is left on federal student loans and say you can qualify for forgiveness. I’ve looked in to forgiveness programs and I am unfortunately about the furthest thing away from qualifying for Loan forgiveness. So don’t give them any info. They have called from several numbers and people. I have blocked all of their calls.

Called my daughter's cell and left a message person saying name was Mark McCain to call about student loan. She never had a student loan. I told her to delete and block.

Received an voicemail only. It stated "your student loan account may be affected by recent class action lawsuit a***nst student loan servicers". The call came from an invisible number with a call back number of 866 680 2791 and with "reference number 3131". The call sounded like a robotic female.

I GOT A CALL FROM THIS GUY JAMES DAVIS AND LEFT A VOICEMAIL MESSAGE ON MY PHONE , WHICH SAYS TO CALL 888-680-2791 AND USE REF. #8771 TO TALK ABOUT THE RECENT C****ES AFFECTING FEDERAL STUDENT LOANS DUE TO SOME LAWSUIT, I DIDN'T UNDERSTAND THE REST OF THE VOICEMAIL MESSAGE, BUT THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THAT HAS HAPPENED I'VE HAD OTHER SCAMMERS TRIED TO FISH FOR INFO. THIS WAY, BEWARE.....

Unlike most scammers this actually left a message.

Student loan scam. To call this number back 888-68]-2791 ref ID 9551 same as everyone else. Total scam.

Informed me that a Sallie Mae lawsuit would be commencing due to all of my student debt. Of course he is a scammer, my intuition and reasoning reinforced by the fact that I am a high schooler, void of dept. Do not trust this caller for your own sake.

Called my wife stating that her student loan was subject to c****e and that we needed to call him back right away. Gave 4 digit reference number which is odd because usually reference numbers are longer. What was also su****ious was that he was very ***ue in what he described and didn’t specify anything in particular other then “c****es to your student loan.”

Asked me the amount of my loan- I stated that if they were Navient they should have this information. This is obviously a scam to get your information. Ref #9551 (same as everyone elses)

Has left several messages over several days, calling from a different state/number each time..MN, PA, NC. Asking me to call 888-680-2791.

Don’t fall into their trap. They will tell you that the federal government is offering graduates who qualify debt forgiveness. Yeah right and the tooth fairy is coming too.

Said to call this number 888-680-2791 ref # 9551 in regards to a class action suit on Sallie Mae student loans.

My dad received a voicemail from two different people (from different states) both saying that he needed to call this number to figure out some stuff with student loans. This is especially concerning because he hasn't applied for student loans at any point in time and neither have I. I do hope people keep an ear/eye out for this and warn others as well.

Someone claiming to be from Nelnet and recent application denial reports may affect my status. I looked up Nelnet's actual phone number and it's completely different than the number the message provided.
