Telemarketer. Business credit scam.
Credit scammers
They try to scare you in to buying their credit monitoring service. The rep lied and the service is a scam.
BE WARNED: I just returned a message from this number. The guy who answered (clearly from the middle of a loud call center) already had all my basic business information including DUNS number available to him, I****ume based on my caller id. This very aggressive salesman was an incredibly rude individual who proceeded to try to bully me through insults and threats into committing to a $69 per month monitoring service over the phone. The call s****ed out normal enough, verifying I have decision-making authority and such. The call center agent then politely told me my business credit is being investigated, but my report only has one small bit of credit information. The agent alleged I therefore need to pay for their service to establish at least four trade references and then monitor going forward. When I simply asked him to send some information on the service to consider and review, he became downright insulting, saying I must not have decision-making capacity, I was risking my entire business because I didn't understand business credit and no one will do business with us without a business credit report. Considering my organization has done just fine for more than a decade without this service and I have a fairly strict policy of not signing up for such “services” without investigating first, I think my decision-making s****s are just fine. This man tried impressively hard to intimidate me into verifying my business and contact information so he could somehow commit me over the phone. He was absolutely unwilling to provide me any kind of reference materials or time to decide. If this is a legitimate service, I'll be shocked considering how unprofessional the call center staff they hire is, not to mention that they won't allow a prospective customer to review information on their service and consider it before committing on the phone. A couple of hours later, I received another call from the same number, this time from a different individual. When I told him I had already received a terribly unprofessional call from this number today, he seemed surprised but very politely asked what I was told and why I hadn’t already signed up. I described the awful way I was treated and made it clear to him I have a policy a***nst signing up for any monthly service over the phone without resear****g first. I asked him to send me an email with information. I provided my generic business email, and what I received follows – I****ure you it’s a straight copy/paste without any editing from me. Based on the grammatical errors, lack of any verifiable company or service information and still ***uely scary undertone I am still convinced this is a total scam...
