Leave a CommentWell that really set of alarm bells! I asked her how I was chosen, and I very quickly in even worse broken English than before she said the same. Criteria over a***n. Stressing strongly that "the government" had carefully selected us. When I asked what government? She stated very quickly "your government". I then asked which one was that? By now she was getting agitated, she was definitely beginning to lose her composure, then I said you mean our government. She said "yes, yes the government " I told I thought this was a scam. She said it wasn't and she could provide some of my information to prove it. I said really. Like what? She then proceeds to rattle of my full name including my full middle name and suffix! Then she preceptor rattle off everything thing else, except my routing and account numbers. When I asked her how she knew all that? She said that since she workexd for a government agency they had access to the 2010 census report. I said wow really you learned all that from the census. She said oh yws! That's were we get all our info. I said that's really amazing! Especially when you take into consideration that the census is done in September and it December already. That's when I dropped my first real ****! I a said so you were able to get my name and address from that huh? Yes she replied. That's funny I said considering that the census form don't include a spot for names, and on top of that I didn't live at this address in September! My family just moved in to that address at the end of November. Well that certainly got a rise out of her.she s****ed to hurry through her script giving me a "configuration " number and a name and a phone number of the grant specialist. I was told to call Helen the "specialist" who wouldthen tell me how to get my grant. As she was trying trying to hurry off the line I asked her for her name and employee identification number! This really shook her up! She was stuttering asking me what did I need that for. She said her name WA elena. But that she didn't have an I.d. number. I said man u do work for the government right? Yes she said well then you should have an I.d. no she said. I said I know for a fact that if you work for the u.s. government then you were issued an I'd. Tess she Saudi was well give it to me. No she said. Fine let me talk to your supervisor. That's about as far as I got. Another only sligvhtly more understandable female got on, told me pretty much the same ex****t thing, and thentold me to call held shell explain everything in more detail. I said ok,but hold on for a sec. You telling me I was chosen, because I pay my taxes on time, I don't have a criminal recited, and I never filed for bankruptcy, right. Yes,yes, that is absolutely correct. And did you get that info from the censushto. Oh no, but we work for the government so we have access to all kinds of resources. Wow I said. Cause your resources must really ****. Because I don't meet any of those qualifications? She basically went silent then went back to. The script, call Helen she'll explain it all to me. Well for s**ts and giggles I called Helen. I got about as far as the 3rd*****o before she ***g up on me. I called back immediately and the line rang busy. I waited tried. A***n, busy everytime. Called from my work phone and it rang through but no one picked up. I'm. Sure the didn't have my work # on their list so they wouldn't answer. My cell number on the other hand has been set to go straight to busy signal. If anybody knows some one in law enforcement please please bust these people!?
i Wish I would've seen this first! Luckily I figured it out on the fly. I was in a bind and applied for a payday loan online (I know first mistake!) Next thing I know I'm these calls asking me to verify some of my 7nformation. Not all of it at once, mind you. Each call came in succession. Each asking me to verify a different piece on personal info. This happened over the span of 20-30 mins. At first I didn't think anything of it. But by the time I was asked to verify my home adddress I was very su****ious, this was the infamous government grant call everyone else has mentioned! So I answer the phone and almost immediately my spider-sense is going off! I'm not sure if it was the very thick and almost unintelligible (yet somehow expected) Hispanic female voice, or the blatantly vanilla name of the company that set me on guard. I mean "government grant distribution center" wow they were really original! Between her accent and mumblig through her script (luckily that same bit of bad acting helped me) I could. Barely understand her! Except for each time she got to the "you have been selected to receive a $5000 grant ) their explanation for this very generous gift was that I along with 11,500 other apparently civic minded Americans were chosen for this "stimulus grant" because we had all managedto payed our taxes on time, keep our collective ****s out of jail, and not filed bankruptcy.
I had gotten the same phone call and they gave me a Grant Code and for me to call the manager right away. I had asked the guy if their is a fee or charge to recieve this grant and he had said NO. So, I called the Manager and she had said that I was approved for $5000 and that the only thing I had to do was go to a western UNION and get a money order of $149.00 and after I mailed it to them. The very next day the money would be in my account. But what I wanna know is how they know my Bank Charges $149.00 to put free money into my account. I just called my bank and I bank with WACHOVIA and they said with them just saying go to the nearest WESTERN UNION NEARBY should give you the red flag and that it is a fraud. They just want $150.00 and walk away with it, and your account money is gonna be gone. So, please do not do this and call ur bank if you are very curious about the free $5000.00 grant that you supposely been approved. If it was thru the government they wouldve just send it through the mail, with no deposite feel!!!! I just called that numbere and its very bizzy....what a big joke!!!!
This is a true scam do not fall for it
They just called me as well. Thank you for the info so I did not waste my time. it sounded to good to be true and it is...
someone from this number called in the morning for my husband saying he was selected to receive $5000 grant money from the US government. they asked for his birthday. my husband would not give it to them and said he'd have to call them back. they gave him a code and then said that he would have to call back and give the code. i called back for him. the phone rang for a very long long time - no automated message popped up, as one would expect from calling an official government number. the lady on the phone asked for the number and i gave it to her. then she asked for the name on the account. i would not tell her, and instead asked what agency she was from. she said that she was from the Government grant department. i then asked her where she got his information from and she ***g up on me. i tried calling back several times to see what would happen and the line would ring and then go to busy. like my husband thought, this must be a SCAM!
offered gov. grant money. must be scam.
