hi, got a call as well from this number talking stern regarding my car warranty....don't know why
This is an Iden***y Theft phishing scam - they tell you it is for an Extended Car Warranty, once they get your Credit Card number they charge thousands of dollars on it. They did NOT "GET YOUR NUMBER FROM SOMEWHERE". It uses a sequential number Auto-dialing computer (Calls EVERY phone number by adding 1 to the previous phone number) and is run by criminals.... they could care less about the Do-Not-Call list. The phone number seen on Caller ID is "s****ed", which means it is not the number from which the call was placed - they just pick some random number to use when the computer dials the calls. In all probability, the calls are coming from Russia, Nigeria or another one of the countries that are known for email scams - IT IS THE SAME PEOPLE that send out Email phishing scams! The worst thing you can do is answer, that validates your phone number as a "real" phone number. It is then added to a list that they originator uses REPEATEDLY to call you... and then it is put on a list that is sold to other scammers (criminals, really) at a premium price, because it is then on a list of valid cell phone numbers! It Is Criminals Calling, do not answer!
got a call from that number this morning. didn't leave a message. caller id j. smith. Dennis is right about who the number is registered to.filed a complaint with https://www.donotcall.gov/
I missed a call on my cell and it showed this number 240.210.7077. I called it to see who it was and got the recording that most others got. First it repeats the phone number you are calling from and then said is this the number you want to switch press 1 or if there is another number you want to switch press 2. They ladies voice sounds like she is from India.
Did not answer said R Smith left no message
Received the same call. Caller ID said R Smith. Did a find on the number and it said Pamala Banks, then did a White Page on Pamele Banks, 2655 ***t Place, Waldorf, MD. White page listed three numbers at that address including the 7077 number. Did a Google Earth search and that address is shown, but it is a vacant lot in the boonies of Waldorf. We don't seem to have much defense a***nst these calls.
Comes up with the name R. Smith. How generic.
spam call regarding auto warranty
cALLS TWO OR THREE TIMES DAILY CALLER id COMES UP AS pAMELA bANKS
wife got the call 5/9/09 .. auto call about auto warranty.. she ***g up as soon as it s****ed. caller id said only cellular call.
Just got a call from this number. Did not leave a message. We are on the Do Not Call list, and screen all our calls via Caller ID, and I suspect this is some kind of scam, especially after reading all of these posts.
Calls us at least once a day, and I have typed in 2 so they will remove my number, but no, the just keep calling. What really makes me upset is that they call my thirteen year old son on his cell phone, when he's at school. Today they called the house phone agian, so this time I pushed 1 hopeing to talk to a real person, and I did. She was so rude. I told her that I was going to turn them in for hurrassment because I had asked them to remove me off there list, and she s****ed arguing with me about how inmportant car insurance was, and that I needed it. When I tried telling her I had car Insurance and Warrenty and that she was being rude she ***g up on me. Ofcourse you can't call them back. Someome please tell me how to get them to stop calling me and me kid. Thanks

Have been getting these calls re warranty on a daily basis from diff people and diff numbers. Call back no response or a **** up. FRUSTRATING!!!
Received call from this number tonight. It went to voicemail and was one of those automated messages saying my car warranty is about to expire.. and warning that this is my last chance!! S****s out with a recording pretending like it is a live call and says so****ing like "wait one second". I have received many of the same messages. I don't recall if all have been the same phone number. I think it varies but usually is a 240 area code. Wish there was so****ing to do about these scammers.
Believe this call is part of a company that was on Dateline NBC. They are felons trying to extort money through debt collection. BEWARE!!!
Received a call 5 minutes ago. When I answered they had ***g up. Caller Id game name of R. Smith. Guess at least 75% of the people who would receive this would have know a "R. Smith" from somewhere. No doubt a way to get around the "do not call" list.
I got spammed too. No caller ID though. When I called back to see who it was, I got a computer reading my own phone number back to me and then asking me to select the option of whether I wanted to move this number or another number. Probably wants to switch my cell phone number some jacked up service. Spammer ****.
Caller Id was Smith R. Didn't leave a message.
this persons name showed up on my id and it was R Smith
Call every so often and click off. I think this may be part of the auto warranty messages that spam cell phones.
line stays open then a faint click as line is disconnected. no background noise. recv'd 2-3 calls like this in the last 2 days. (5/4-5/5)
Just got a call from R. Smith I have no idea what about we haven't rented a car or anything recently but I have gotten those calls before about extended car warranty which I got them to stop I hope its not s****ing all over a***n.
R. Smith, no message. I'm also an Enterprise customer, or at least I was.
We do not answer calls if we do not recognize the caller. However, I did google the number and found this page. When I Googled the number, it came back to a Pamena Banks. I have not rented from Enterprise in over 3 yrs.
Recieved the call.when called back got a person you couldnt understand and wanted a return number ***g up on them but i havent rented a car..... was also from r smith
I have no idea who this is, because I couldn't get to the phone in time. However after reading the comment about Enterprise Rentals, it occurred to me that I have rented a car for next month through PriceLine.com, so now I am wondering if they are the ones who are selling personal information to telemarketers.
got a call from this number when i answered they didn't say anything. so i called 'em back and it was some western-indian sounding recording saying to move my number or add a different number...(not even a mention of what company this number is representing). i have been reading alot of the other comments left by similar numbers to this one and the only common thread was that we all just returned an ENTERPRISE RENTAL CAR a few days ago. i'm now going thru the enterprise rental car contract to see if there is any mention of releasing personal information to telemarketers and other outside sources...****** enterprise rentals
