Who is making these calls?
Hman I received a voicemail today from 424-781-1209. The message was from a woman with a heavy (Indian?) accent, saying that she needed a call back from me or my lawyer. She had the wrong number, and mentioned the name of the person she was seekeng (not me - wrong name - wrong gender), but was rather blunt. She used phrases like "contact me the second you receive this message" and "if you do not return my call, all I can do is wish you good luck as this situation unfolds on you".It almost sounded like a collection service, but this person was not reading a script of any kind. She seemed to be improvising her message on the fly. Very unprofessional, especially since they didn't even reach the correct person.
Bob Yeah, same deal....must be a payday loan company....not sure which one. The guy speaks terrible english. I have contacted all my creditors with my attorney's #, and i just ignore this guy. cheers
Anyone knows who this is?
Cathy They have identified themselves as "National Crime Monitor Division", "Law Office of Provate Crime Unit","Cybercrime Unit with the Department of Justice". Some of the names they have used are Shaun Mar, Jimmy McKdel,(I asked him to spell it.). They say I will be arrested at my workplace for 3 counts of Cyberfraud. They wanted me to pay them money to stop the arrest. It was unclear if the amount was 5 or 6 thousand. The person that left me the voicemail message speaks in broken english. I have had an attorney look into this matter and they told me it is a scam. I have notified the FBI and they are aware of this group and told me not to worry about them. I have notified the local police and they will be filing a report. The number traces back to Malibu CA. You would think that their police department would be embarashed enough to put a stop to them.
steph This number is screaming scam!!! The fact that the guy has an Indian Accent is one red flag. Then he says he is from the law offices of Federal Crime Division. No such thing. I would ignore him. I am about to put a complaint on the FTC site and with the attorney general. They have no right to threaten you or anyone!
cam this person claims he is from the cyber crime law firm, number comes in as unknown...he leaves a message stating if i want to take this up with the courts, and that my references will also take this up with the court if I did not call back...I received a messsage a few months ago ...I had in the past taken out payday loan..but everyone was paid back...I was taken aback at first and they debit my account..however this continue to not sit well with me and I call my bank after resear****g they reverse and the bank said it was a fraud...the same person with a indian accent...this is a scam...how could this continue after so many complaints...so****ing needs to be done.to stop this bullying..this is cyber bullying...and extortiion....its wrong....its wicked.....don't suc***b and let this get you please contact your phone company to make a complaint,, police department, bbb, we probably need to call the police department where this number comes from....
That’s very strange. The exact thing happened to me. The guy asked for me by name then appeared to not be able to hear me and then the call was dropped. It's only been about ten minutes but he hasn't called back.
