Keep getting calls. Responded once and was told I owe money on an account that has been closed many years ago. Told them to stop calling and send me a letter. No letter ever came but the phone calls continue.

called me and told me they were collecting on a date 17 years ago and I stated that they could not try to collect a debt from that long ago and they told me sorry about my luck they could and would I told them that the statue of limitations on credit card DEBT in WV was 5 years not 17 and to please stop calling me. He informed me that they would call until they collected the debt

Called more than one time and left debt collector message. I do not know these people and owe no debts.

Stated that he was calling to collect a Debt ... and he was with Capital One. I told him that I don't owe anything to Capital One and I have nothing to do with Capital One. He just said "Thank You" and ***g up.

I don't answer any calls where they don't identify the caller or any type of 800 numbers that don;t identify themselves. This caller is a pain. Recd 9/22 at 8.33pm

They never leave a message so I have no idea who they are. But they could do one thing and stop calling. This was worth the money to trace & read others complaints.

Have received a few calls from this number at all different times. NEVER leaves a message. After resear****g the number online to see who it belong to, I'm seeing everyone else gets these same calls. Maybe we should call them like they call us from all sorts of numbers!!

First time called 11:00 am local on a Sunday. I have NO old or outstanding debts. Glad I didn't answer. If this is going to become a regular thing, not sure how to resolve it. I have several virtual numbers with different ringtones, and this number does not have voice mail, so ignoring won't be an issue. Just wondering why the calls -- have had these numbers for 8 years!

This is a company that tried to collect debt for other companies. Mine is from an old hospital bill. Hospital bills stay on your credit forever until you pay it.

This is a debt collector that bought your debt from Providian, a credit card company.

Called saying they represent discover, I don't have discover they have the wrong person Wanted personal info I told them I am not the person they want. Told me I'm a liar and will see me in court and will see that my credit is destroyed and will call anybody to get to me. Some foreign sounding ***** waste, If this is what Discover card does I'm sure never going to get their card. Any body out there beware I've heard these stories about discover card and the people who try and collect for them. These s*** bags should be wasted.

A lady called several times to my cell phone to looking for someone who has same name with my husband. Did not tell me the reason. They should stop to call on cell phone and I do not want to loose my airtime.

Two names I have found for this Portfolio Recovery number. Bonnie Y Hamby, and Yvonne C Hamby from Hut****son KS.Looks like they work from home.Call all day and night on old credit card debt from the 90's.There is also a place in Houston, but couldn"t find a number.

reall annoying they call me numerous times every day for a supposed Sears and Kay jewelers card. I ask them for proof they send me one page with their name on it and amount. THEY CALL THAT PROOF. even better the debt is from 2001. They keep calling even though I just tell them I dont owe it and even if I did the statue of limitation is up. and **** up.

same people different location in USA. Its on record of my cir***stances, yet they continue to call. Next step is having an attorney make contact with them. he is very familiar with these people and is now able to build a case in responce.

i've also been receiving the calls from them sometimes they leave voicemail and sometimes not. But when they identify themselves its as portfolio recovery for someone i've never heard of.

These people call everyday. They are looking for a person who worked for my husband 7 years ago. Apparently, it is for an unpaid medical bill. They won't believe me when I tell them that this person doesn't have this number. I was told that I was being "untruthful" and if I would just pay the bill they would stop calling. My last and final conversation with them was 6 months ago when I ended the call by tell them to go F themselves. It felt really good.

Never leaves a message.  Calls on Sunday, which is a violation of the Fair Debt Collection Act. Calls more than three times a day, somedays.

The deal with these companies is they buy up old debt that has been written off by companies or have gone through legal bankrupcy(illegal to s**** with)for pennies on the dollar; then they try to collect.  This is the reason they can offer reduced collections.  Once a bill is past your state statue of limitations for collections it cannot be collected on UNLESS you answer one of these calls and verify your name.  Then the time clock s****s over and reactivates the collection.  Also, after 7 years these fall off your credit rating; if reactiavated it goes back to your credit rating.  I have written my state senater and the ACLU regarding this illegal business dealings.  Trans Union recently sold ***dres of thousands of bankrupcy names to the collections agencies.  In order to stop this we need mass amounts of letters to your local government and the ACLU (125 Broad St, 18th Floor, New York, NY 10004) to get better laws and financial punishments to the collection agencies when they break the laws and also to the financial ins***utions who are selling your private information.  One good way to punish the collection agencies is have a law put into place (with no loop holes) that they would have to pay the state they are trying to collect in 10X the amount they say is due; if the collection amount is past due the state statue of limitations.  I would think the states would jump all over this since most of them are in dire need of extra funds.  This is a billion dollar business to the collection agencies.  Another thing is that these collection agencies do not have to prove to you that you owe the amount.  I have asked them in the past to send me the proof of owing the amount and have been told point blank that legally they do not have to submit this information to me.  I have to prove to them I do not owe.  The only way to do this is to take them to court which could cost thousands of dollars.  The laws should speciafically state that in order to collect they need to provide all the material proving that you owe the monies.

Think this is a debt collector. Keep calling with differnt nos. Caller id shows "portfolio recovery" They have NO reason to be calling this number. They need to STOP Calling.Calls reced jan 26- 4.25 pm and jan 27-3.32pm. Plus use other numbers. NEED TO STOP CALLING HERE>

1-620-622-8870.  Don't know who they are and really don't care.  This is the second BOGUS call that has shown up on my daughters prepay phone.  A number that has no personal information attached to it at all and since she's only 10, I'm pretty sure she doesn't have any debt to pay anyone.  Her number has been on the do-not-call list almost 2 years.

left message stating they had problems with the check I submitted for the medical then cut off and did not finish.  I don't use checks.

I created an entry on my cell called BC (for bill collector) and****igned it to silent/no ring. Every  time they get a new # i add it to the contact. i get 5 or 6 entries per contact and make BC2, BC3, & so on. Doesn't matter if it's portfolio or not. I have spoken with them in the past and Portfolio Recovery has always been polite and courteous to me. they will try and set up auto pay arrangements like any other bill collector though. they will also make reduced deals with you if you have the money.

If you are getting their annoying calls on your cell... look into getting this software for your cell phone (wishsolutions.com). You can block as many numbers as you want and your phone doesn't even ring. I have had it for 2-3 years and I love it. Good luck to getting some peace.

This is another office of Portfolio Recovery. I GET their calls from up to 5 800 numbers.They now figure Ill pick up my cell phone calls from an un-blocked Kansas number. I moved the home phone (ported) which they bothered me on to a cell phone with NO voicemail...so I just ignore any strange calls now. They have never used the mail over 5 years to tell me that I owe a debt so there is no need to talk to them anyway. The other solution if u cant move your landline to a cell then get call forwarding to a cell phone during the day that has no voicemail. Most of us know the good numbers to pick up on....and then they cant leave messages when u do this and then screen your calls when you return to the home phone.The less messages they can leave eat up all their time. I have noticed after a few weeks they have stopped calling everyday. Now it once or twice a week only...so this system will reduce their calls to you.
