I received a call to confirm an appointment for my child with the birthdate **/**/**** (leaving birthdate out of the posting but they were accurate with one of my children's birthdates) and to press 1 to confirm appointment, 2 to cancel so I cancelled thinking my husband had scheduled an appointment in the past that we forgot about (since you make appointments far in advance at our doctor). I knew we couldn't do that date so I cancelled but then when I ask my husband he said he never made an appointment. I called the doctor and they said that call was not from them. So now I am stumped and worried. How and why did they have my phone number and know that I have a child with that birthdate? Since I clicked to cancel the appointment rather than just ****ing up, it now feels like they have just verified information about me and I am worried. What is the purpose of fishing for this type of information verification? What's the intended scam here?
