jen Rec'd call on 10/22/13. Did not pick up. Message on answering machine was from someone named Barbara from EOCCA. She was requesting personal information about someone named "Joshua X" and a student loan/debt concern. We don't know any Joshua and no-one in our family has ever had a student loan. Posters on other phone websites are reporting tons of these calls. Company apparently is real (Collection Company of America based out of Boston, MA). Not sure if they are legit or not.

Lori Burek This is last known phone number for a company called PIN GALLERY by SGG... they sold lapel pins. I looked up the number to see if they were still in business as I could not locate a website. They did NOT call me. I assume now the company is out of business.

The fact that there is no information out there for this number is proof to me that they are using this line for their scam. It appears that they call from this line one or two days a month and then don't use it again. they are using the pay day loan scam and scare tatics to try and get money out of you. DO NOT give them any personal information!! They are liars. I was recently taken for $300 over this scam and I have nothing to show for it. The people disappeared after telling me that I had around $10 left to pay and after the last payment I would receive a letter in the mail. I never heard from them again. They didn't take the $10 and they didn't send me any kind of letter. If they are calling you please post what they say to you to help keep others informed. We are our best defense against the likes of this scum. I believe this was from Dish Network telling me my account is past due. I have never had an account with Dish Network, so I will ignore these calls.

I received a call asking for my birthdate - I asked who I was speaking to - and hung up.  They called right back - insistent on my birthdate, explaining they were not selling anything - I told them that the birthdate they had was not mine - and they said thank you and hung up.  I tracked this number from a friend who they called to get my number.  That is how I got 1-800-896-4538 EOCCA - SOLOMON THOMPSON, EXT 14703.  BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY AND THEIR TACTICS - BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU - WHERE ARE YOU WHEN WE NEED YOU!

Whoever this is that's calling has been harassing my daughter at all different hours of the day and night.  They have called on both her cell phone and the house phone and don't leave messages.  I finally answered the phone today and spoke to a guy who identified himself as Joe Adams and said the only way I could get her name off the list is for her to call.  He also said that she had filled out the form requesting information on a college degree and had very specific information about her.  Since she's not going to college, I find this hard to believe as well as rather concerning since he may have more information on her than he should

Some idiot from AT&T i think so that's is what he told me. "Hi how ya doing" he says. All i said was "um huh" I told him to go to H E double hockey sticks, then i hung up. We have an account already and they have the persons name so no need to ask for the person in charge of, stupid man you should already know that. Call one mone time and see what happens.

They are a non for Profit state school that gives out money to their students to attend school.. Answer the phone and give them a chance, it will be the best decision you ever made!!

they say they are a collection agent but will not tell what it is owed on an who owes it.they want me to pay them without knowing what it is and i am not behind on any bills.

This is the University of Maryland. I asked for more info on a degree there, and they started calling me 2x a day, nearly every day (they were all very nice, however). I finally had to ask them to call me only after a few months, which they did.

Going to look into filing complaint with MA Attorney General as well.Wrote the company a CEASE & DESIST letter.  (Some of the laws require that communication be done in writing). I explained to them again that the person they are calling moved out of the country in Aug. '07 & this is now a personal cell phone for a different person.  Just because they don't like that fact doesn't mean it's not the truth!  This also keeps leaving messages for this other person and always says "if you continue listening to this message you admit you are THIS PERSON".  Just because the guy claims that listening to the messages he keeps leaving on MY private cell phone makes me responsible for the debt- again does not mean that is true. "it is my belief that your conduct of personal attacks against an innocent party clearly constitutes violations of the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and the Rosenthal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act 15 U.S.C 1692, et seq.  & State laws."I'm actually almost looking forward to the next call so I can sue them for more violations!Kurt Miller has brought this on himself by being such a ****, so early in the morning.

dear mary, without providing the company with an alter number sadly they are allowed to contact you at work. if you want to calls to stop to your job you need to give them another number to call. and yes they are able to garnish your wages. depending on how much you make, your paycheck will have a deduction of 10% - 25% before taxes and another other deductions (medical,dental,401k) are taken out of your check. and depending on how many times you get paid a month depends on how much they get a month. and the garnishment doesnt stop until the full balance is paid off. 95% of the time it is more than a monthly payment arrangment. best thing for  you to do is get on a voluntary payment arragment.

I receive calls from this number three times a day seven days a week but I do not bother to answer these calls.

I was called for a numerous amount of days at my place of work.  I refused to give them my home number and they threatened to garnish my wages, can they do that?  I got a call on Friday and this woman was trying to get my home phone number and I refused to give it to her, she started yelling on the phone and all I understood was something about garnishment of wages.  I tried to get her name and phone number and she would not give me any of that information.  Yes I owe a debt but does that mean that they have the right to call me at my place of work and threaten me?  I was not given the name of the company or anything.  All I was given was a name of a worker and this phone number along with an extension number.

dear Gil,since you seem to know the laws so well, look up the fdcpa laws. it is against the law to disclose a business matter on a machine and for the reason of the call. the only details allowed are the contact # reference # and if so wanted to name of the person calling! look that one up! stop being ignorant and call them back. Googled this number and found out it appears to be from UMUC, some online university. I just ignore it since they never leave a message.

This number has shown up 4 times on my caller id today.  They will not answer when you call back - it says thank  you for calling payment service center then you hear beeping.
