Leave a CommentThis man "Mr Cooper" has called me 4 times telling me I have to tell a friend to contact him. He threatens to take me to court with "him" my friend is a female if I don't give him the message. He has a very heavy Indian accent so I can't understand most of what he says. He claims my friend owes him money and used me as a reference, so I'm obligated to tell "him " to call. If I don't I will be in the courthouse with "him". The number comes through as unknown so I don't answer he just leaves a message with this phone number.
First off I want to say they are contacting me too. I know it’s a major annusance and pretty **** scary when you get their first call. They are verbally abusive and very unwilling to give you any “hard facts” of their law suit. I first heard from these people on Tuesday May 11th. They continued to contact me 4 times that day. All different people, All south asian or pakastani, and ALL from 845-523-1053. After the first call I quickly went into defesive mode got onto google and googled the number trying to find out some kind of information about this so called “federal Investigations” people calling me. I also imidately went onto the credit burrau websites and requested that they put a fraud alert on my credit report since these people have my personal information. After I received 3 more very abusive calls and spent the day trying desprately to google these people my instincts took control and I went ahead and reported these people to the FTC. Apparently according to the ftc people this is a scam that this “federal investigators” is running. If you’ve applied or in my case simply inquired about a payday loan on the website they s**** to call you harrassing you stating that YOU owe their client; in my case the supposed client was “cash advance” and that you can either settle it with them or you can settle it in court and have to pay thousands. I’ve spoken to a “amy” , a “ronnie”, a “scott” all of which requested that I send them my debit card and my pin over fax to them so they could automatically withdrawl a little over 400 dollars from my account. All these people are trying to do is scare you and I understand if you are scared I was too. The easiest things I can suggest that you do is the following1. Contact the 3 credit reporting agencys. Experian, Transunion and Equafax. Let them know that you are a possible victem of identiy theft and a victem of fraud. Also Equally important Contact your bank letting them know to close your account imediately that you are a victem of fraud. 2. Contact your FTC give them as much information as you can about the phone call, name, number times they called and what was said. IF they asked you for monies give them the ammount they asked you for as well3. Call your Phone company and request that they block the number these people are calling from. If you have a cell phone you can always request that you get a new phone number. By being a victem of fraud they will give you one for free4. If they are threatining you to where you feel your life is in danger or if you’ve already sent them money go to the police and file a police report .
