Received a message from my family stating the same story.  They were trying to charge me $3,000 for a $600 credit card.  Play the same game with them and tell them to serve you. I don't think they will because I said ok, I spoke to my lawyer and he said to serve me and we will go to court and discuss this.  Most credit card's will settle at 60% of what is due...so tell them you will settle at that amount or go to court.  I am****uming...you will pay less and they will leave you alone.  Always request a letter from them showing the settlement amount (before paying them).  Make sure the letter states that they will report the balance in full to credit report companies and then once the funds clear ask for a balance paid  in full letter.

I got a message on my work phone stating i needed to call 888-490-4925 due to a complaint filed in a Susan Smith's office.  When i called back with my case # they placed me on hold and then a man answered stating there was no Susan Smith that worked there!  Then he proceeded to state that I was mailed out a court summons and asked if i got it.  I told him i didn't receive any letter, then he proceeded to state I had 3 options, hire legal representation, make payment arrangments or settle.  He is trying to get me to pay $830.96 for a $200.00 credit card bill.  He stated the original amount was $2,288.00 because the account was charged off and it took fees too do a search for me.  Ofcourse i was scared so I called my husband.  Needless to say, he was ****ED and is now calling him.  What should i do?? ANYONE???

I as well have been getting this call from a restricted number on my cell phone.  I finally answered and the lady wanted to know if anyone was going to be at my home to deliver a summons for me.  I am glad this that I found this site.Sounds like this is there typical scare tactic.

calls to relatives concerning summons to be delivered to me. Never asked if I resided there or what my current address or phone number was. Asked if someone would be home on a certain day to receive the summons. certainly illegal practice being commited here. If this is happening to you file a complaint with your state's attorney general and with the ftc.

did they ever actually serve you? i got a call from them too

did anyone on here actually get served??? they called me too with the same talk as the other comments and would NOT tell me any info on them

Hi...they tried to charge me 1900 for a 300 credit card...i asked him why the***** i had to pay so much he then said its because the account was charged off and it took fees too do a search for me...fyi they called and harrassed my family telling them i had a summons and they were coming to serve me...i then told them i know the law and no collection company can do that...he then stated i could make a payment of 600 and that would take care of it...these people are all out for money...negotiate...they will come down with you!!!!

A boss of mine over 15yrs ago just got a phone call on his private cell phone from "restricted'  telling him that if he knew me he should get a hold of me and that they would hold the court up 2 hrs for my court summons.  They gave a number to call and case#.  They answer Corp office.

rec's a PRIVATE call.. from a very rude man.. looking for a relative of my husband.. saying a court order summons has been issued to appear in court..  Its been years since we last spoke to this person. i have no idea how they got my House address and my telephone #.  the number they gave me was 888-490-4925, along with the case #.. Happy i looked up the number.. thanks everyone for the comments its really going to help for the next time they call.

My mother got a call from this place today saying the same thing that they were sending an officer to serve me this week or next week. Of course it scared me too so do they actually serve the summons or what? The only way i knew about it is my brother is there out of town because i have not talked to my mother in 15 years and he called me. When I called the guy was not rude at least but said I had to pay at least $500 this month and the remaining within a couple of months. They are trying to charge me $1,900.00 for a $500 credit card. I guess my question is do they serve the summons? I would love to pay them but heck can barely pay my daily expenses.

I just got a call from them a few minutes ago- he gave me my birthday and social and told me there was a summons a***nst me, and that i needed to show up in court, will i be there or not? After argueing for a few minutes i just took down the number he gave me. He told me they had my address, and that they were sending someone to seve me and that i needed to call that number and verify that it was my actual address. Very rude and shirt and tried (and succeeded) very hard to scare me. I am home with my two kids and someone is on my cell saying that they have my adress and want to know if i am there now to come for me. He kept persisting that i call that number and told me i get 2 chances before my 'luck' was up. I told him if he was legit then an officer would be at my door to serve me, i wasnt dealing with him any more. Just **** up on these people, BILL COLLECTORS THAT USE INTIMIDATION AND LIES.

I've gotten calls at my employer - telling them they had a "summons"for me - when I called to tell them never to call my work a***n - they said they didn't call because they "don't make outgoing calls"  They called my husband's cell to say I had a summons.  They are misrepresenting themselves and that is a***nst the law

My 14 year old stepson answered the phone at home today and they told him that his parents needed to call back within an hour because they had a court-ordered summons and gave him a case number and a number to call back. The call ended up being for my ex-husband and when I called the number they answered 'corporate office' and when I asked for the name of the company he told me it was Atlanta Research so****ing or other. I asked him what the call was about and what did the company do and he said that he was just a receptionist on the first floor and could he get my name and case number. I gave him the case number and my name and then he transferred me. I heard hold music for a second or two and then the line was disconnected. I guess since I wasn't the person they were looking for, they just ***g up. Needless to say, they shouldn't leave that kind of message with kids because it scares them. Thanks to the information I read here, I feel much better knowing it was a debt collector. Thanks!

They called my job the other day and left a message with a co-worker saying that they wanted to issue a summons to me and needed me to call them back.I'm glad I came to this site and realized they are just debt collectors.Thanks everyone.

I figured as much...these people have been harassing my poor mother on a daily basis at 7a.m! She has told them numerous times that I don't live there anymore, and when I called the do***ebag (pardon my french) he was the biggest **** I have ever spoken to! I ended up getting so riled up that I cursed him out and he ***g up the phone. What ticks me off more is the amount that they are so dilligently trying to collect......is $213.49. It's unnecessary....very unecessary. They say that the name of the company is NFC, but it's Midwest Atlantic because that's the collections company listed on my credit report for that amount. Just tell them to shove it!

they are bill collectors. I just called and gave them a piece of my mind, the guy ***ter in the Legal Department, finally got mad at me and ***g up the phone!!! The company is called Mid Atlantic so****ing or other, they new things that I didn't even know!!!!! If they ever call a***n, tell them to go to a place where the sun don't shine and **** up on them. The person they are calling about is not in any legal trouble, they are just in debt like every other American today with this recession!!!

I just got a call from this number too. The man is very rude and seems to know everything about everything and told me that the local authorities were notified.

My wife got a call from another number telling her that she needed to contact an old friend of her's and get her to call the number above.  The man on the other end said that the cops were on the way over to our house and even knew our address when my wife asked about it!  Does anyone know anything about this number?
