I got the same call.  I say*****o, the guy says "HI", then nothing.  BEWARE.  Remember that scam a while ago about the (809) number wherein you call back and your phone is charged like $2,500.00.  I'm wondering if it's not the same concept and out of our curiosity, we call back to see who ***g up on us and get charged.  Here's the original scam from the (809) area code:ABOUT AREA CODE   809We actually received a call last week from the 809 area code. The woman said 'Hey, this is Karen. Sorry I missed you--get back to us quickly. I Have so****ing important to tell you.' Then she repeated a phone number beginning with 809  . DON'T DIAL AREA CODE  809 This one is being distributed all over the US . This is pretty scary, especially given the way they try to get you to call.   Be sure you read this and pass it on.   They get you to call by telling you that it is information about a family member who has been ill or to tell you someone has-been arrested, died, or to let you know you have won a wonderful prize, etc. In each case, you are told to call the 809 number right away. Since there are so many new area codes these days, people unknowingly return these calls.    If you call from the   US , you will apparently be charged   $2425   per-minute. Or, you'll get a long recorded message. The point is, they will try to keep you on the phone as long as possible to increase the charges. Unfortunately, when you get your phone bill, you'll often be charged more than $24,100.00   WHY IT WORKS:The 809  area code is located in the   Dominican Republic . They are not  regulated by the US laws.The charges afterwards can become a real nightmare. That's because you did actually make the call. If you complain, both your local phone company and your long distance carrier will not want to get involved and will most likely tell you that they are simply providing the billing for the foreign company. You'll end up dealing with a foreign company that argues they have done nothing wrong. Same as everyone else, but also connected to phone number 269-768-2298, where they try to sell free satellite TV.  Thier caller ID is NY.  Wierd?

Same thing happened to me. I use to live in michigan in the 269 area so****umed i knew the people. It is the area of Kalalmazoo or Battle Creek to be exact. This reminds me of the ring....Am I going to die in 7 days now?

AHHH just called a***n, same thing....HOW DO YOU GET PEOPLE TO STOP CALLING YOU THAT YOU DONT KNOW! Okay-y--y-y-y-y-y. Same EXACT thing happened to me. Area code 269 is in the lower peninsula of Michigan. A male voice says, 'Hi'...and then that's it.Silence.Meh.Soz..it costs money to call halfway cross the country...***?

As mentioned, I received a call from this #, which also listed MD, and had a message left by a John Moore "trying to get me to call back about lowering my interest rate on my c.card..."  Beware!

Same thing.  Final call to lower the interest on my credit card.  I didn't answer.  Sounded like a recording leaving me a voicemail.

Caller left a msg saying his name was John Moore and he was calling on behalf of a certified non-profit agency (no name given of that agency) and that this is the final call that I would recieve (I hope that's true!) to lower the interest rates on my credit cards.  Caller said that I should have received a letter (funny but he never mentioned me by name) and that they had not heard from me. Said that this would be the final call before they closed out my file.  Told me to call back (that it was imperative that I call. Ha!) to 1-800-978-4581.I pasted the same bs caller made to previous victim...which was crock.

I got the soft male voice. Maybe it's some automated thing. If it hears a real voice, then you get more spam calls? No idea. But the ID was MD.

I was able to determine that the phone number originates in the Lower Pennisula region of Michigan. I tried it a***n and was transferred to this number: 1(888)246-8038. No one answered and I was s***ted to voicemail.

Just got the same call with the "hi". So****ing tells me this is some sort of automated call. On a ***ch, I called the number back and got a recording that said I had reached some sort of customer service line and if I wanted to be removed from their calling list to press 1, or to talk to an operator to press 2. Since i wanted to actually talk to someone and let them know exactly how annoyed I was, I pressed 2. I got a busy signal, then was ***g up on.

Just another call from the World of Perversity. I heard a male voice with only a “hi” and breathing. Sense told me this is another pervert who says nothing to get kicks from any response. They like the "struggle" on the phone. My response was a stern “can I help you?” and then he heard a click. Don’t feed these perverts what they want to hear. Take control with a stern voice and hopefully they will not call a***n.

I got the exact same call as Blue...John Moore was giving me a final "courtesy" call before he removed my file for good.  Please!  Said I should have received a letter, and he had not heard back from me yet.  They could offer interest rates as low as 1.5%.  The original call came from 603-214-3523, but he left his message to call him back asap @ 800-978-4581
