I recieved a letter from Disney National Sweepstakes Winner Notification on 3/23/2009. I had my husband call Smith & Barnes Law Express first then the lady Linda on the other end gave him another number to call which it the number that is showing. My husband told her that I would be calling her back because the letter was in my name. I called her back and she told me to hold on and she put me on hold. I was disconnected. I tried three times to call her back. Twice I got an answering ma****e and the third time she answered and asked me if she could call me back she was on the other line with another client. She said she would call back in 5 minutes. It has been an half an hour. The number I have is 289-888-2594
It's from Smith & Barnes Law Express.
I received a letter it was 3/3/09.
Max and Kyle, i was just wondering if either one of you remembered applying for anything recently like a car loan or did you recently file taxes or so****ing. I was just trying to determine how these people may have chosen us. Also, are you both from the Northeast because i contacted the credit union on the the check sccu and they said that these scammers have been getting a lot of people in the northeast.
I received a notice reportedly from Disney Vacation Club Simpler MarketingSweepstakes Division stating that I had won a sweeptake. I was told tocontact Linda Brooks of Smith and Barnes Law Express (1-289-555-2594) whowas the agent****igned to****ist me in my sweeptakes winnnigs. When I received the mailing, there were two checks. One a cashier's check for$2,500.00 and one for $25,000.00 which was the sweepstakes winning. Ms.Brooks instructed me to take the $2,500.00 check to my bank, cash it andwired %2,380.00 to England as this money was the money to offset the costof my winnings. I did this, called Ms. Brooks back and gave her theconfirmation number of the wire I had sent. Ms. Brooks stated that oncethe she had confirmed that the money was sent, she would send me aconfirmation number for the Affivdavit I would be sent so that I couldtake the $25,000.00 check to my bank to cash as the bank would nothonor the check without the affivdavit. It also states on the check thatan offical affivdavit is needed as it is required by law. Ms. Brooks alsotold me to send a $10.00 cashier's check to Smith and Barnes distributioncenter in Ontario, Ca***a as the money wired to England was $10.00 short.I did this. The $10.00 Cashier's check was made out to Smith and BarnesLaw Express. This s****ed on 2/26/09 and I last spoke to Ms. Brookson 2/27/09. According to Ms. Brooks, once everything was done, theywould oneday mail me the affivdavit to take the check to the bank. I didnot give nor was I asked to give information such as bank routing number, social security number or other personal information. I never receivedthe affidavit nor have I been able to contact Ms. Brooks since 2/27/08. Itried to call all day on 3/2/09 and all day on 3/3/09 and always gother voice mail. I 'googled" Smith and Barnes Law Epress but got no hits.I contacted 411 and asked where the area code "289" was located and wastold that that area code does not exist in the United States. I would like to know about Smith and Barnes and this apparent scam alhtoughit did not cost me. Please e-mail me at [email protected]. ThankYou.
