I got the same exact letter and check...I can confirm that all on the posting by rodg-15 Apr 2008 is 100% correct.

This was the number to call back on a SECRET CUSTOMER employment firm employment letter. It came unsolicited, hand addressed with a cashier's check for $4,760 made out in my name. The accompanying letter states,"it is imperative that upon receipt of this check that you contact our office immediately, failure to comply will result in the automatic stop payment order of this check. The bank, United Community Bank, Perham, MN, is valid, but the 1-888-360-9568 number gets you to someone who says the check is valid, etc, but when you go on line and get the number for the bank and call them, they say the checks are fraudulent.  **BEWARE - DO NOT CASH or DEPOSIT**
