I had an account with this law office and I spoke to the individual named Mr. Hoye and although he was slightly rude, after resear****g his accusations, what he said was correct and I did have an outstanding check. Although he was rude I pd him bc after contacting the NYS bar****ociation, I determined that this is a real law firm

It's real... they are just PLAIN RUDE. They get contacted by companies like check systems for bounced checks that the company itself is unable to charge the customer, but if you arrange with the company itself, then they(HALL AND WHATEVER) don't get paid... That is why they are so RUDE and OBNOXIOUS, they want to get money out of you by scaring and threatening you. Don't play into their tricks! if you know you have a bad check lurking around, contact the company with whom you have the debt and pay up! That's the best way to get back at them. Usually they charge DOUBLE what you really owe in the other company.In my case it was a check for like $180 and they wanted me to pay almost $400... I did pay but directly with the company that I owed and they gladly accepted my payment + an additional charge for the first check having bounced. This proves to me that they don't really own the accounts they are calling because if they had bought that defaulted customer list they would have paid the original company and that outstanding account would have been closed.
